“Always do.”

I hang up and put my phone away. With my blades sharp and ready to be coated in blood, my gun ready to shoot every single bullet into any gangfuck I can, I join my brothers outside by our bikes.

Leo pierces the air with an ear-splitting whistle and gets everyone’s attention.

“Wyatt is gonna lead us as close as possible without being seen, then we’ll go on foot. If the junkie’s info is correct, once we have Myles and Aspen, kill on sight. Don’t leave any of them breathing.”

His eyes seek me out, and he nods once. I hear his silent order loud and clear. Don’t go fucking this up.

I ride behind my father and Zach, with Jonah beside me. The road does nothing to calm me, but it does help me see how I’m going to kill them. Any fuck who gets in my way is losing their life.

It’s not long before we’re parking behind a tree line and dismounting our bikes. My blood pumps angrily around my body. I crank my neck to the side, then the other; I crack my knuckles and, once again, check my weapons.

I can’t remember the last time I had so much on the line.

Dad comes up beside me. “For taking your brother, your old lady, you know what Pope would tell you to do. ButI’mtelling you, anything goes. I have your back, always. They’re coming home tonight, one way or another. No matter what the orders are.”

“I hear ya loud and clear, Dad. I won’t let you down or them.”

“You never have so far. Can’t see it happening now, son.”

“Brothers!” Leo hollers. “Spread out. Close in. No one makes a move until I give the sign.”

I must’ve missed the speech about the signal, but knowing Leo, it’ll be the loudest whistle in history.

The club spreads out, and every step I take closer to my brother and Aspen, the more the rage ignites. The house comes into view, and Leo holds his hand up for us to stop.

“Zach, creep up and check the barn out.”

I’m torn. A part of me thinks they could be being held in the barn, but the other part, thinks it’s too cliché.

Zach takes off, and I keep my focus on the house.

“Jay, take Creep and check out the house. Get me numbers.”

“No,” Dad says, stepping closer. “Mase and I will check it out.”

“We both know that’s not a good idea, brother. Besides, I didn’t order you, and I ordered Jay and Creep.”

“No offence, Leo. But that’s my son in there, I’m not about to…”

“I’m aware who’s in there, Rick, you’re too close, and now we’re wasting time arguing like little bitches.”

Dad comes back, but I ignore them all. Leo said it himself: we’re wasting time. Pushing forward, I unclip my gun from the holster under my cut and keep to the bushes as I make my way closer to the house. No one lurks around outside, and as I come to the first window, I lean up and see six pricks sitting around a game console in the living room. I move to the next window, and eight more are seated around a dining table. Well, this is about to be the last meeting they’ll ever share.

Fourteen so far.

I move around the back of the house, and there are only three in the kitchen. Without climbing, I can’t see how many, ifany, are upstairs. With my back to the house, I slide down the wooden panels to a crouching position. Keeping my senses open to everything around me, I quickly shoot Leo a text with the numbers.

Wait.

That’s all I get back.

Grumps once told us, me and Myles, that there would be a day we would want to go against our president, who was Cas at the time. He said that while we follow his orders, we’re still men, and men aren’t born to follow. He told us that there would be nothing worth going against our code. He told us that there’d be a day that it wouldn’t be a case of wanting to go against him; it would happen without thought, without want. What if it was for my brother, for someone I love, to always apologise rather than ask for permission? But then he went on to tell us never to apologise.

Today is that moment. Not only do I want to go against my president, but I’m left with no choice when I hear Myles yell for someone to get away from Aspen.

I’m up and sprinting for the back steps, digging out my second gun just before I kick the back door in. Blood coats the walls as I shoot the three assholes before they even know the Devil has arrived.
