“Bring her here.” My words came out cold and sharp.

“Don’t you dare!” Gaetano screamed.

“Who’s going to stop me? You killed my baby, and for that, I will take away everything from you.” My voice remained calm as I addressed him. “My dear father, you were playing with the Devil’s fire, and you’re about to get burned.” I added, giving him a vicious smile.

“I want him outside, tied to a pole.” I told Damiano.

“Your wish is my command, Donna mia.” Damiano replied.

For once, I think Damiano was curious to see what I had in mind.

Every one of Damiano’s men had gathered outside, their eyes fixed on Gaetano, who was tied to a pole. They were filled with curiosity, eager to witness what fate had in store for him.

I smiled when I saw my mother make an appearance with Alexei. I wanted her here for this as well.

Gaetano looked like he had seen a ghost. It left him speechless to see my mother alive and well, which made me grin with delight.

“You! How are you still alive?!” He shouted, thrashing around in an attempt to break free and get to her, but it was of no use. He kept screaming, furious at the sight of my mother and Alexei. Especially when Alexei wrapped an arm around my mother and placed a kiss on her lips.

Gaetano stopped when Morella was dragged in front of him, watching in horror as she cried and begged for mercy.

I refused to show anyone an ounce of kindness, only for them to retaliate someday. I had to get rid of everyone for the safety of the life growing inside me.

I grabbed Damiano’s gun.

“Althaia, no!” Gaetano shouted at me.

“Don’t say my name as if I owe you any loyalty.” I spat out, coming to a halt in front of my mother. I offered her the gun. “She’s far from innocent. She was well aware of everything, and not only that, she encouraged Cara’s father to abuse her.”

My mother’s emerald eyes burned with fury as she accepted the gun from my hand.

“I’ll gladly make the life drain from her eyes.” She declared, stopping in front of Morella. She stared at Gaetano as a slow smirk formed on her lips before shifting her focus to Morella.

For Cara.

The sound of gunshots pierced the air, one after another piercing Morella’s stomach, all the while Gaetano struggled frantically to break free.

With a final act, she took a knife from her ankle strap and stood behind Morella. She lifted her head to get better access to her throat as they both stared right into the eyes of Gaetano. She slowly dragged the blade across Morella’s throat, a gurgling sound ended her annoying voice pleading for mercy.

“Ah, that’s my Solnishko.” Alexei said with a tone of pride, bringing out a faint smile from me.

“My turn.” I announced.

Everyone watched me as I grabbed the gas can.

I poured gasoline over his head, making sure every inch of him was drenched as I listed out the names of every single one he hurt and every single life he took of Damiano’s men. I wanted him to remember their names before I ended his life.

I stepped away to a safe distance and Damiano stood next to me as I lit a matchstick and stared at Gaetano.

“Goodbye, Gaetano.” I whispered, and I lit him on fire.

The flames consumed him in a matter of seconds, while his screams of agony pierced the night. But they fell on deaf ears, drowned out by the inferno we had unleashed.

The night air was thick with the acrid scent of burning flesh as we stood there, unflinching, watching the flames dance with an insatiable hunger, and reducing Gaetano to nothing more than ashes.

It was a symbol of our determination to protect what was ours, and a brutal reminder to anyone who dared to cross our path.

I looked at Damiano.
