The plan was to trap them inside the castle, making it easier to have them locked in one place for complete control over the situation. I wasn’t going to play games anymore, but I still aimed to take him down as quietly as possible to avoid a larger war. My men were my responsibility, and I intended to carry this out with minimal casualties on our side.

My father was right; this had gone on for too long already. We were supposed to take down Gaetano months ago — quick and easy after gaining his trust and leading him to believe he could have access to my weaponry.

Because that was how it all worked. It was a game of wealth and power, and I relished setting an example for everyone that I was the one running the shit here, and no one else. I eliminated anyone before they could even become a threat.

“Stay alert.” I gave one last order before they proceeded to take their seats.

I walked down the aisle with Lorenzo and stopped at the altar with him since I was the best man. Glancing around at the seated people, Nonna and our parents sat at the front on our side, while Gaetano, his wife, brother, and Carlos were on the bride’s side, seated at the front.

Those bastards were smiling, thinking this was all in their favor, and it took everything in me not to pull out my gun. Instead, I directed my attention to Lorenzo.

“How are you feeling, brother? Nervous?” I offered a teasing smile when he shot me a blank look.

“No.”

“Of course, you’re not. You are Tank Man, after all.” That garnered an amused reaction from him.

“That wife of yours has a unique way of expressing her thoughts.”

“You don’t say. She calls me the Devil.” I smirked.

“How fitting.” Lorenzo snorted.

“I would say Tank Man is quite fitting as well.”

“It is, actually. Cara is definitely not complaining.” He smirked, and it was my turn to give him a blank look.

“Not interested in hearing about that. I’ve already seen your ass, and I’m not in the mood to be any more traumatized.” I told him.

“Really? My ears were bleeding when I heard you fucking in the bathroom. Besides, I blessed your eyes with my pretty ass.” Lorenzo gave me a playful smile.

“There’s nothing pretty about your ass, and I bet you were almost wanking to the sound of me.”

“Now that’s fucking disgusting.”

We both stared at each other before we cracked a smile. It was obvious to hear just how much Althaia’s and Cara’s personality had rubbed on us.

The chatter subsided as the music began playing. All eyes turned towards the large double doors as they opened. A smile spread across my face as Althaia walked out, the first one to do so as the Maid of Honor.

Althaia smiled beautifully, and her green eyes sparkled with majesty. She looked ethereal in her dress, which elegantly embraced her beautiful body as she walked down the aisle, holding a small flower bouquet in her hands.

Our eyes locked, and when I couldn’t tear my gaze away, and she responded with a shy smile, her cheeks blushing a rosy hue. I continued to watch her until she came to a stop, and my eyes shamelessly traced down her body. The dress and its color complemented her tanned skin exquisitely, embracing her figure with delicious allure.

I definitely wanted to rip that dress off her later.

The change in the music helped me snap out of my thoughts, preventing me from taking any impulsive actions. Once again, everyone directed their attention to the doors.

Cara, in her big wedding dress with a veil-covered face, started to slowly walk down the aisle. I glanced at Lorenzo, letting out a subtle smile as I observed his reaction; a reaction I knew all too well from experiencing it many times with Althaia.

He looked at her, completely mesmerized, trapped under her spell as she walked towards him. Lorenzo went to her, his hand reaching out to intertwine with hers, and together they stood before the priest to begin the sacred rites and prayer.

As the priest spoke, my eyes found their way back to Althaia, captivated by her cheerful face as she looked at Cara and Lorenzo. Lost once more in my thoughts, I surrendered to the vision of her, imagining her in a white bridal gown. Marriages and starting a family had never held much appeal for me, but it was inexplicable how she made me want it all.

With her, and only her.

Althaia bit down on her lip, trying to stifle her laughter while raising a brow at me. That was when I realized they were waiting for me to give the priest the rings for him to bless.

“Take this ring as a sign of my love and fidelity. In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.”
