“No.” Althaia chuckled. “My jealousy has boundaries, and I can’t be jealous of a woman who has passed away. She was in your life, and you cared for her.”

I let out a small smile before giving a nod.

“Do you want to come with me?”

“That would be weird.” She released a soft laugh. “It should be just the two of you. I don’t want to invade that part of your life.” Her fingers gently brushed against my cheek, leaving a tingling sensation in their wake, before she closed the little distance between us and pressed her lips against mine.

“I love you.” She said against my lips before nestling into the crook of my neck.

“And I love you, baby.”

“Oh, and by the way… God forbid, but if I were to die before you, you’re not allowed to remarry. I swear to God, if you do, I’ll crawl out of the grave, rip her head off, and take you with me. Do we understand each other?”

I let out a laugh at her warning.

“My love, you'll never have to worry about it. If you die, I will simply die with you. We will never be separated. I will follow you from this life into the next. Wherever you are, I'll be there.”

“Promise?” She whispered.

“I promise, my love.”

I pulled my hair up to see if I should do an updo or leave it down.

“Leave your hair down.” Damiano leaned against the door frame.

“Are you sure?” I asked. He stepped closer and took a strand between his fingers.

“Yes. I love it when you leave it down. I also love it when I can wrap my hand around it like this.” He said as he wrapped his hand around my hair, gently tugging it to make me look up at him. He placed a small, sweet kiss on my lips that had tingles erupt inside of me.

“Mind telling me where we are going?” I tried again. Damiano had been so secretive about it, and frankly, my curiosity was gnawing on me to figure it out.

“Somewhere.” He smirked.

“Well, what are we doing, then?”

Damiano shrugged, entertained that I have been trying so hard to get just a hint.

“You will see when we get there.” He retorted and led me out. “I brought you your dress.”

“The dress that was kept a secret?”

“Yes. I picked it for you.” Damiano smiled. Excited that he picked it out, I unzipped the gown bag and was immediately stunned by the dress.

“It’s gorgeous!” I smiled big as I touched the soft fabric. “Of course, it’s red.” I chuckled.

“It’s my favorite color on you.” He took the dress out of its bag and helped me get dressed.

As I looked in the mirror, I admired the exquisite dress he had chosen for the occasion. The dress was a stunning one-shoulder design where a silver beaded band adorned the neckline, extending down to the side of my waist. The dress also had a side split, and a long trail elegantly trailed behind me.

“You look gorgeous, Mrs. Bellavia.” Damiano kissed my bare shoulder. It never failed to make me shiver in ecstasy when he called me by my new name.

I took in the sight of him dressed in a snug burgundy velvet blazer paired with a perfectly fitted black dress shirt that embraced his frame.

“And you look handsome as ever, Mr. Bellavia.”
