Set Play
We agreed it was just a set play, a performance for the crowd…
Élise Clément
The universe must hate me. I don’t know why, but honestly, it can bite me. There are over 600,000 people living in Memphis, yet when a wannabe cowboy keeps harassing me, the last man I want to be near comes to my rescue: Mateo Reyes, star midfielder and captain for the Memphis Storm. Oh, and did I mention that he’s my brother’s long-time, most hated rival? I’m determined to pretend like the night at the bar never happened, but like I said, the universe hates me. There’s no other way to explain how I ended up in a situation where I have to pretend to date my brother’s rival. This is fine…everything’s fine. Right?
It was supposed to be simple…just stick to formation, smile for the crowd, walk away clean.
Mateo Reyes
The universe must love me. I’m known for being a ‘perpetual lonely bachelor,’ but after kissing Élise once, I am determined to change that title. One problem though. She hates me. Why? Good question. Turns out she’s the little sister of my biggest rival. Élise thinks she can deny our chemistry and pretend that night never happened, but I’ve never been one to give up that easily. Plus, like I said, the universe loves me, even when things go sideways. When a nosy fan posts misleading pictures, bad press and public scrutiny follow, leaving me with no choice but to follow my agent’s advice: find a girl to pretend to be in a relationship with me. Good thing I know just the girl for the job. Now if I could just convince her of that. She has to see the logic in this plan…Right?
Nobody warned me I’d forget I was acting somewhere around the second half.
