All he’d ever wanted was peace, but how can you find peace when your soul is nothing but ash and darkness?
There was a reason they called him Bás it meant death in his native tongue, and it was apt because everywhere he went, death followed him like a plague. Turning his back on the life he craved, Bás leaned into his nature, making a life for himself in the shadows. Pushing the brutal murder of his family to the back of his mind and with the help of his lifelong friend, he escaped the jail cell where he had been locked like an animal for a crime he didn’t commit.

Now though, it was time exact vengeance on the man who had ruined his life and taken every shred of hope he had.
Valentina Bianchi drew people to her, she had always had the ability to make friends with anyone. It was why she fit in so well with Eidolon, but when she was asked by Jack to work in a secret group known only as Shadow, she relished the challenge. Until she met the formidable leader known as Bás, and she realised she knew him. The man who had broken her heart and had no memory of it. Working with him would be torture, but as the days turned into months, her unease turned to friendship, and before she knew it, she was falling in love with a man she could never have. A man who thought his soul so tarnished by his past that it would never shine again.

When Bás’ past begins to hunt him, he knows he is close to the answers he seeks, but when those evil intentions turn to the only pure thing in his life he knows the only way to rescue the woman he loves and secure her future is to unleash the beast within; even if it is the thing that drives her away for good.
