Two battered hearts must find a way to heal each other before their hidden pain drives them apart.
To historic restoration expert Olivia Gibson, a chance to work on a transplanted Scottish castle in Monterey is a dream come true. But once inside, nothing is as it seems. Instead of documenting her observations, she finds torches burning in period perfect sconces just as a black pit opens up beneath her.
War Master Alec McKeran ceaselessly patrols the passages of the clan’s bespelled castle. While his brothers sleep, he searches for any means of escape. But his search comes to an abrupt end when a dark hole appears in front of him and a body hurtles from its depths. Without a thought, he catches the flailing woman and rushes her to safety.

But as Alec and Olivia struggle to understand each other, an old enemy returns to assault the castle while a new one secretly plots its overthrow.
