They thought their story was over. Life had other plans.

When Taylor Roberts learns that Matt Thompson has suffered a stroke at just 31 years old, the news shatters her. Life has already taught Taylor how quickly everything can change – and how easily the people we love can be taken from us.
She hasn’t spoken to Matt in seven years, not since the heartbreak that destroyed them both. But when Taylor stumbles across a GoFundMe posted by Matt’s girlfriend – who has since abandoned him and their young daughter to chase an acting career – she does the one thing she swore she never would:
She goes back.
Now Matt is struggling to rebuild a life he barely recognizes, raising a daughter alone while grappling with the fallout of his illness. And Taylor’s sudden return forces them both to confront the love they never truly left behind.
Told in alternating timelines, the friendship of Taylor and Matt’s early youth blooms into an achingly beautiful first love that spans their childhood years at summer camp. After tragedy separates them, they reunite in their twenties as adults both struggling to find their way. But the universe won’t let them off that easy, dealing them a second blow that will be even harder to come back from.
