A horrible thought occurred to me then. Gods, what if they started kissing? And Lucius saw them?

Should I warn them? Create a diversion?

Why would they be that stupid as to be alone together? Why risk it?

Before I could think of what to do, movement behind the tall conifers in front of me caught my eye. Two men, both the foolish lovers, stood in a blurry silhouette. One of them laughed, the sound low but loud enough to make their presence known.

I could make them out, their profiles. I looked beside me, at Lucius, who noticed me staring at him. He raised an eyebrow.

My heart was in my throat as I got to my feet and stood in front of Lucius, facing him, determined to block his view of the couple behind me. The look of surprise on his face would have made me laugh had it been any other time. His lips were parted, brows raised.

Behind me, someone whimpered, and boots scuffed. Lucius leaned to the side, his expression curious now. I mimicked his move, blocking him.

“You want my cock, lover?” I heard Lysander ask, clear as day.

My eyes closed. The fool!

A hand grabbed mine, and I opened my eyes and stared stupidly at Lucius. He put a finger to his mouth and stood.

Taking me by the hand, he quietly pulled me away from the path and to the right, where the two foolish lovers stood twenty feet away in front of us. They were kissing now, pulling at each other’s tunics. There could be no other explanation as to what Lucius and I were witnessing, and my heart sank, fear and grief warred inside me.

I turned away from the scene being played out. I couldn’t take it anymore. The two fools had just sealed their deaths.

Pulling at Lucius’ hand, I tried to relinquish his hold, but he wouldn’t let go. He pulled me roughly against him and wrapped his arms around me, his hard as steel body at my back. He rested his chin on my head, holding me in place, as we both stared, hidden in the brush, at Lysander and Cornelius.

I felt sick.

“Shh, little dove,” Lucius rasped in my ear. “They are safe from me.”

I shook my head, his rough jaw scratching my scalp as tears threatened to fall like the snow around us.

“So, you already knew about them, Omega,” he said softly against the shell of my ear. “Good. I’ve known for years. Do not be afraid.”

My body was shaking now, tears falling freely, burning my eyes. Lucius held me tighter.

“No harm will come to them, sweet woman.” He rubbed his nose against my hair, down the side of my neck. I shivered. “Their love is deep, don’t you think?”

I nodded, my breathing erratic.

“There is no hope for the two of you, I’m afraid,” Lucius whispered. He sighed, and I felt it all the way to my bones.

“Let me go, my lord,” I begged.

The snow was picking up now. We watched as Cornelius lowered himself to his knees. I could make out my betrothed’s breeches falling down over his thighs.

“I will not.” He traced a finger down my neck seductively. “Neil is going to take your prince’s cock, Omega. He’s going to get a mouthful of cum soon. Seed that belongs to you.”

I closed my eyes at his crudeness.

Lucius tsked in my ear. “Keep those pretty eyes open, Sierra.” He gripped my chin, cupping my jaw in his large hand, forcing me to face the scene before us.

“Why are you doing this?” I whispered harshly. The snow was now falling in thick lacy chunks, painting the lovers with crystalline kisses.

“Because I want to make you an offer. Are you willing to hear it?”

His voice, his tight hold, his nearness, and scent were making me light-headed. I found myself both repulsed and aroused by him.

“Yes.” Anything for him to let me go.
