Slightly lifting his boots off the ground, he drove bike forward as if it were an extension of him. When the bike stopped in front of me, he vowed, “That’s not today. Not tomorrow.” He pulled his bike next to me. “Not until we’ve spent a lifetime together. You feel me?”

With a sense of pride I’d never felt before, I dared a smile. “I feel you… Duke.”

His smile was the most beautiful thing I had ever seen. “Can I take my Old Lady home now?”

Lynx’s Old Lady… That sounded like a dream come true. “Please.”

He reached out his hand as my soul sang:

Riding through the night, under the moonlight

I hold on to you

Riding from my past, hoping all this will last

I hold on to you

The closer we get, to the future unknown,

I hold on to you

I hold on to you

Holding Lynx’s hand for support and love, I slipped behind him onto the motorcycle. His heat vibrated through me like a welcomed throw-blanket no ‘grammy’ could ever sew.

I whispered, “I love you,” not thinking he could hear me over his bike, but his hand released mine and then grasped the back of my neck, turning his upper body and pulling me forward for the kiss of a lifetime.

The first to ever kiss me would be the last, because no one would be able to do it better.

Surrounding us, howls from Stallions and Ryders echoed, solidifying who we were and who’d we become.

An army of engines came to life, their fire burning our souls like a metallic bonding sealing our fates.

Against my lips, Lynx vowed, “Mad fucking love for you.”

Staring into each other’s eyes, we smiled, hearing a few bikes closing in.

Legend was the President, and should’ve been in the lead, but tonight wasn’t his win. His bike at our side, he gestured his ringed finger to his son. “Tonight’s yours and your Old Lady’s.” He winked at me. “Lead our men.”

Before I knew what I was doing, I reached out to that man who played an important part in saving me. Tears burst from me as he captured my hand and kissed it. “Our most precious jewel.”

More howls broke out as engines revved.

Excitedly, I peered over my shoulder, then smiled and waved to the men who helped my Lynx right my wrong.

Wild whistles had me laughing and bashfully snuggling into Lynx’s back, his leather smelling like Heaven.

As if that were his cue, as if my happiness was all he needed to move on, my Old Man lifted his hand in the air, twirled it in a circle, then set us on a path I would never regret.

Chilly wind rushed through my hair as we rode, and I’d never felt freer. Arms around his waist, we never felt closer. My hands grasped his chest, wanting to feel his heart that I knew beat for me. My own pressed to his back, wanting to feel his mere breathing that caused our love to grow. This deep connection had a hunger igniting inside of me. I found my thighs tightening against his body. My lips parted, wanting to taste this incredible man, my savior, my friend, my partner for life.

The closer we got to a heavily treed Mississippi bayou, the more my needy hands roamed, and the more labored Lynx’s breathing became. More heat oozed from his beautiful body. Even past the rumble of his bike, I could feel the thunder in his chest. He was as affected as me in this haze of need I was experiencing.

His headlight, and all the ones behind us, shone into the blanket of trees that promised us shelter and peace for the night. The tracker under my skin still needed to be removed, but no one feared Lorenzo right now. He had lost the battle of the night and would be dealt with later. Lynx didn’t explain why Lorenzo was still breathing, but I trusted he had good reasons.

A huge bonfire soon came into sight, glowing against moss and so many leaves that my heart fluttered even more. It was a dreamy sight. Nature welcoming me to the beginning of my new life. It wasn’t Austin, nor would it be for a few more days, but it was a positive sign of all to come.

Safety. Comfort. Warmth.
