Running the water as hot as she could stand, she took a sip of her wine as she let the tub fill. Looking around the bathroom, she got to survey it for the first time rather than just rushing to get ready. She took in how neat and organized everything was. She could admit that she didn’t put much thought into keeping everything about her space neat and tidy, but she could see that Dyllan took great pride in doing that. Whether that was from his days in the military, she didn’t know, but she promised herself she’d take extra time to make sure that she didn’t mess with his system.

Pouring the bubble bath into the water, she took in the calming lavender scent mixed with a hint of rosemary and peppermint. She sighed with a smile on her face, already starting to feel relaxed. Working quickly, she rid herself of the dress she’d been wearing since about ten that morning. The balls of her feet felt as if a thousand tiny needles were jabbing her repeatedly while her arches flamed with fiery aches. Every time she wore heels to a wedding, she promised herself she wouldn’t wear them while working again, yet she continued wearing them.

Sinking into the sudsy bubbles, she moaned as the hot water poured over her body, relaxing all her aching muscles. She loved her job, but wedding days were always physically exhausting. There were always problems to deal with, unhappy clients and guests, and things that went wrong. As weddings went, Kade and Brody’s was smooth. Except for her encounter with Richard Rathers claiming he was allergic to everything on the menu and demanding his own meal be brought in using his specific requests—which was really him trying to get away with having prime rib instead of the New York steak offered—it had been an easy night.

Reaching over the tub wall, she grabbed her glass of wine, letting the crisp apple and floral taste wash over her tongue. The cold of the wine mixed with the hot water served as a calming contrast, letting her fully sink into the muscle easing waters. Closing her eyes, she let her body sink in.

“Babydoll?” Dyllan’s voice rang through the door, followed by a knock. “Everything okay?”

Startled, Skylar sat up and shivered, the water now gone cold. “Uh, yeah, why?”

“You’ve been in there for an hour. I just wanted to make sure.” Concern laced his voice through the door.

Shaking her head, she pulled the stopper and jumped out, quickly wrapping her body with a towel. “Yeah, all good. I must have nodded off in the tub.”

Throwing on the pjs she’d brought in with her, she walked out of the bathroom to find Dyllan shirtless, laying on the bed and reading a book. His colourful tattoos were on full display across his thick chest and shoulders. His book rested on his abs, hiding the well-defined six-pack she knew lay beneath. She bit her lip as her eyes trailed farther down to his blanket covered groin, wondering if he was wearing anything underneath.

Folding down the sheets beside him, he tapped on the bed. “Come, wife.” Looking up at her as she walked out, his gaze trailed down her body. She felt almost naked under his inspection of her tank top and sleep shorts, but her body didn’t care. She burned under his gaze.

“I’m not a dog, you know?” Skylar placed her hands on her hips.

“I know; I never meant to imply that you were one. Now, come on.” He tilted his head as he looked at her. “Please?”

She never could resist sweet Dyllan. Or thoughtful Dyllan. Or sexy-as-sin Dyllan. Right now, he was being all of the above.

Climbing into the bed, she couldn’t help but notice how his eyes tracked her movement or the way they flickered down her shirt as she crawled into bed. “See something you like, husband?”

“I do,” he growled.

She shifted in the bed, lying on her back as he threw his book onto his nightstand and rolled on top of her.

“I’ve got plans for you,” he said as he rubbed his hardening length along her thigh.

“Oh, yeah? And what do you have in mind?” she teased.

Sliding down her body, he kissed her shoulder and nipped at both of her nipples, causing her to arch her back and grab on to his hair. She moaned as he sucked a stiff peak into his mouth through the fabric of her shirt, leaving her breathless.

He slid even further down, his hands grazing her sides, over her hips and down her thighs.

“I like where this is going, husband,” Skylar moaned.

“Oh, yeah? I think you’ll love this next part even more.” He placed a hot kiss on her core over her sleep shorts before pulling back and sitting at her feet.

“What? No, don’t stop,” Skylar moaned as she reached for him.

Dyllan chuckled, giving her a smile that stopped her heart.

He’s so dang gorgeous.

“You’re going to stay right there.” He grabbed her foot, pressing his thumbs into her tired arches. She couldn’t hold back the moan that escaped her lips as he gradually started applying pressure. Moving his digits up and down, he smoothed out the lingering soreness on the balls of her foot, down the aching arch and into the heel. He was magic with his hands.

“Dyllan, this feels amazing,” Skylar moaned, unable to open her eyes. Sleep covered her the more he went, shifting from one foot to the next.

“I love hearing you moan my name, babydoll. Next time it’ll be for a completely different reason.” He rumbled, skirting his finger lightly over the arch of her foot, making her laugh and jerk at the response.

“Stop that,” she laughed, keeping her eyes closed. “Go back to what you were doing before; that was magical.”

He started rubbing her foot again, exhaustion and lust warring through her body, and even she didn’t know which one would win. Her core lit up like Canada Day when he touched her, but her eyes were heavy, and she could no longer form words to express herself to him.
