“Yeah, well, that was under different circumstances.” Lila waved off her friend. “I don’t need one. You, however, are doing it the more traditional way, so you get this.” She pointed to the balloons and laughed.

“I agree,” Skylar said, slipping a sash that read “Bride-to-be” over Kade’s head, fixing it in place under her arm. “We can throw one for Lila after the wedding, but this weekend is about you and your hunky farmer.”

She led her friends over to the table with the decorations, affixing the tiaras on their heads and handing Lila her “Maid-of-Honour” sash.

“What does yours say?” Kade said as Skylar placed her own over her body.

Opening her arms, she laughed as the girls read ‘Chaos Coordinator.’

“Now,” Skylar said as she handed them their disco ball drinks. “This is a special drink I had the bartender make to mark the occasion. We’re calling it ‘Sex in the Fields’.”

“You know a thing or two about that, don’t ya, Kade?” Lila asked, sending a wink to her friend.

“You guys went overboard! I thought we were just going to dinner and drinks,” Kade said, ignoring her friend and taking a sip. Skylar laughed, seeing her mostly reserved friend drinking from a cock straw, red creeping up her face as she drank. “Oh wow, this is good.”

“We’re doing all those things, but this is a party! Let’s eat. The chef here comes highly recommended. I can’t wait to see what he made for us.”

They spent the next few hours laughing and eating, drinking more of the ‘Sex in the Fields’ as the waiters came in, refilling their disco cups. Skylar felt herself relax the more they laughed and drank, realizing this was the most at peace she’d felt in such a long time.

“Alright, ladies,” Skylar started, standing up and wobbling.

The drinks are stronger than I thought.

“Before we head out and dance until we can’t stand, let’s cheers to Kade. I know we haven’t spent a lot of time together the last few years, but I still consider you one of my close friends and I’m so glad you called me to help with your wedding. May you have a long, happy marriage to Brody, filled with lots of amazing sex with the same dick forever.” Skylar giggled as she raised her glass.

The women giggled as they toasted, taking a drink from their cups.

“She must be drunk. Skylar said ‘dick,’” Lila giggled to Kade.

Skylar fell back into her chair, finishing off her drink. She’d admit that she was feeling the effects and loved every minute of it. She’d never felt more content than she was sitting with her friends, laughing and drinking, knowing that she was helping one of her friends start an exciting chapter of her life.

She just hoped that she’d be able to find that same happiness one day. With her track record, it wasn’t likely.

Chapter Six

Dyllan

Dyllan stood with his back against the wall, arms crossed, a glass of scotch in his hand. The steady beat from the music pulsed through his veins, the noise level in the club giving him a headache.

Dinner with the guys had been bearable. The food was decent, and the drinks were flowing. Travis had even scored them tickets to the hockey game that night where the local team hosted B.C.’s home team, booking a limo to take them to and from the arena. But now they were in the club they’d expected the girls to be at because Travis and Brody were so pussy-whipped they couldn’t be without their women for more than a few hours without becoming lost little puppies. So here they were, in the club Lila texted them they’d be at, waiting for them to show up.

Dyllan groaned as he took a sip, wanting nothing more than to go back to his room and enjoy the quiet.

They even charge you to sit down in this place. What the fuck is up with that?

“Hey, man. This is amazing, isn’t it?” Travis said as he walked up to him.

“If you say so,” Dyllan looked at Brody. “This can’t be your scene, man. What gives?”

Brody shrugged, taking a sip of his beer. “The girls wanted to see what Vegas clubbing was like. It’s not like they get this back in Logan Creek.”

“Wuss,” Dyllan grunted.

“I can’t wait until you find someone that drags you to shit you don’t want to do,” Brody smirked as he surveyed the room. Loud techno music pumped through the speakers at full blast, the vibrations ricocheting in his veins.

“Like that shit will ever happen,” Dyllan grumbled, taking another sip.

“Hasn’t it already?” Travis asked.
