“Oh, I’ll be filling something…”

A laugh escaped my lips and the tension in my chest eased. “Yeah, before any of that can happen again, I need food. Real food. Not dry cereal and yogurt. Vernon promised biscuits and gravy.”

“Hearty shit.” Smoke nodded and dropped the towel. “We burned a few calories.”

“Hmm.” My gaze wandered over him. His ink, his muscles, his Titan legs.

How did women get anything done with a man like Smoke walking around in the wild?

“Don’t look at me like that,” Smoke growled. “Or we won’t get out of this room.”

I slowly removed the towel from around me and then sauntered over to my suitcase. I bent over to hunt through it and found a thong, giving him a view of my ass. Then I stood up and looked at him over my shoulder. I winked.

He grasped his erection in his hand, and gave it a few slow pumps. “You may have won the battle, Logan. But you’ll lose this fucking war.”

“I can’t wait.” I grinned. “Breakfast, first though.”

Chapter 14

I thought stepping out of the motel room, out of our sexual bubble, would immediately make the intimacy between me and Smoke disappear.

But when Smoke pulled me into his side and walked with me, hand settled on my hip, I realized I had nothing to worry about.

We walked into the main lobby of the motel, past the vacant front desk toward the cafeteria that had been closed down last night.

Guests of all different ages were grabbing plates and filling them with buffet food. My stomach moaned in delight.

“Well, this is a pleasant surprise,” I stated, dragging Smoke to the waffle makers. “I didn’t think a place like this was going to have a good breakfast. Just mostly cold stuff. Cereal. Hardboiled eggs. Things like that.”

“I’ve never seen anyone get this excited over a breakfast buffet,” he said with a smile.

“Breakfast buffets are the best. Especially in Vegas.” I placed my hand on his chest. “Here’s what we’re going to do. Divide and conquer. You get the biscuits and gravy, the sausage, the bacon. Forget the scrambled eggs. We don’t need them. I’ll get the waffle and pancakes and maybe some oatmeal. Are you ready?”

Smoke was smiling down at me, his eyes lit with amusement.

“What?” I asked.

“I feel like you would’ve made a great NFL coach.”

“NFL. That’s soccer, right?”

He let out a laugh. “All right.” Smoke pressed a kiss to my forehead. “Divide and conquer.”

Several minutes later, we were taking our plates of food to a vacant table. We’d missed the utensils and napkins, so I went to grab them and then realized we needed juice.

When I came back to the table, Smoke was setting down two mugs of hot coffee.

“Coffee,” he explained.

“Juice.” I set down the plastic cups and then took the chair next to his. I handed him a fork and then dove into a waffle.

“Got enough syrup on there?” he asked. “Need me to tap a tree?”

“You’d tap a tree for me?”

He tucked a strand of damp blonde hair behind my ear. “To see your face light up when you take a bite of a waffle? Yeah, I’d tap a tree.”

We stared at each other; our food momentarily forgotten.
