“Right now, just focus on relaxing a little. It’s sweltering hot there right now in the middle of summer. Enjoy the beach.” She hesitated before she said tentatively, “Are you absolutely sure you’re safe with Dylan?”

“If you’re asking about my physical safety, hell yes, I’m safe with him. He’s not violent, Nic. I guess I can see why you’d ask that, but that man would never lay a hand on a woman, drunk or sober. He might act like an ass, but it’s not in his DNA to intentionally harm any woman. If you’re asking if my virtue is safe, I doubt it,” I said flatly. “There’s rarely a moment when he’s around that I don’t want to get him naked. I guess hot, nice guys with British accents are just too much temptation for me.”

“God, I can’t wait to meet him and start over again,” Nic said wistfully.

“So you think you can forgive him?”

“He was drinking,” she mused. “And from what you’ve said, he obviously went through a lot. He does deserve another chance. Besides, I already adore Leo and Bella. I wouldn’t complain about having one more family member of Damian’s to love.”

We chatted for a while about the wedding plans, and Nic and I hung up.

I put my phone on the coffee table and headed for the kitchen.

Once Dylan finished the call he was making, I was ready to embrace this opportunity of a lifetime by hitting the beach.
