He grinned and strode into his closet, then came back with a black bag. He put it down in front of her and unzipped the bag before pulling out a projector.
“This is why you don’t have a TV?” She pulled out the chair and sat.
“No. Oliver’s gaming is why I don’t have a TV.” Seth knelt down next to the bed and set up the projector, facing it toward the ceiling.
“We’re watching it on the bed?”
Seth paused. “We could probably drag the couch up here, but there’d be questions. Don’t worry. I’ll behave. I won’t upset your imaginary friend.”
She shot him a glare.
“Anyway, Oliver loves to blast the sound.” He shook his head. “I can’t stand the sound of bass pumping through my apartment.”
“So you got rid of the TV.”
“I gave it to Zane.”
She laughed softly.
“Zane plays games too, so he doesn’t care.”
“Okay, so why do you need to keep this a secret?”
“Because I don’t need Oliver getting the idea of having a projector in his room so he can play games.”
“He’s going to hear it when you play the movie.”
He pointed at the bag. “There’s headphones in there.”
Clary took out the headphones. “So one of us will be reading the subtitles?”
“I have another set of headphones. I just need to grab a transmitter.” He looked up at the ceiling and made some adjustments.
Then, from the corner of his eye, he noticed Clary’s relaxed demeanor stiffen.
He stopped what he was doing. “Is something wrong?”
Clary put her phone down.
“Did you get another message from that PI?”
She nodded.
“I thought you blocked him.”
“I forgot.”
“What did he say this time?” Seth got up and walked over.
She turned the phone toward him. “He gave me a time and place.” She licked her lips. “Should we just go meet him? See what he wants.”
And get him to stop harassing you. “I’ll deal with him.”
Clary opened her mouth, but she didn’t say a word.
“I’ll get Zane to go with me. He’ll make sure I don’t do anything stupid.”
Her lips disappeared between her teeth. “You may have to be the one to make sure he doesn’t do anything stupid. He still seems so angry over the incident with the girl.”
