Seth brushed his fingertips down Clary’s arm again. “He seemed sincere.”
“Holly always appeared sincere when she wanted something,” Elton said.
Seth peered at Clary.
“What if the old man’s just pretending to approve but is secretly trying to break you two up?” Aldric asked.
“I don’t know.” Seth poked his tongue into his cheek. Hearing all Edward had to say about Clary had somewhat softened him toward the old man, but being reminded about Holly was making him reconsider. “Maybe.”
“I know Clary has a good opinion of the old man,” Zane said. “But you be careful, you hear me?”
“Yes.”
