After the bomb went off, Clary and Seth had gone to EB Co., making sure that no one was hurt. She’d spent the next few hours assuring the employees that all was well and giving a statement to the police.

Then there were the media outlets who were even more fervent about scoring an interview.

Seth had stayed with her until he got the call from Zane that they had Ressler. Then he’d come back and dealt with the hole in the apartment.

“You, too.” Clary glanced over at Zane’s apartment. “Let’s get this over and done with.” She yawned again. “I need a bath, and then I just want to sleep.”

EPILOGUE

Seth could hear the sudden flurry of activity as he was about to open the door. When he did, he caught a glimpse of Aldric and Oliver hurrying to settle down at the dining table, as if they’d been there the whole time. “Pressing their ears up to the door?”

Zane nodded and continued eating while looking at his phone.

“I’m sorry about everything today,” Clary said. “I didn’t ...”

Elton glanced up from his food, and Seth hooked his hand around Clary’s hip, drawing her closer.

His brother ran his hand through his hair. “No one was hurt, anyway.”

Clary licked her lips. “But there’s a hole in the apartment, and I don’t think it’s safe to remain here.”

Zane put down the phone. “The building inspector said it’s fine, right?”

“There’s a hole in the floor,” Seth said. “I can see the garage from my living room.”

“So what do you suggest?” Aldric asked. “Let’s vote on it.”

Seth narrowed his eyes. He supposed his brother had already heard what Clary said.

He should change their doors for ones with better soundproofing. “Clary has a Bay Area mansion.”

“She does?” Aldric said with wide eyes and feigned surprise. “How lucky for us. I say we move there.”

Seth rolled his eyes while Clary laughed softly in amusement.

“I thought you used to be a social worker,” Elton said. “And you own a mansion? In the Bay Area?”

“She inherited it,” Seth answered before Clary had to. “May Eolenfeld left it to her.”

“No.” Elton finished up his food and threw the box into the bag. “I’ll stay here.”

Aldric grabbed Elton’s arm and pulled him back down in his chair. “Let’s vote.”

“I’m not going to—”

“You guys voted and I had to do what you guys said. Why can’t we do that now?”

“Fine. I vote that you can bring home whoever you want.”

“Too late. We vote now and decide together. That’s what we’ve always done.”

“Seth refused to take a vote when he brought Clary here.”

“Because I wasn’t home then.” Aldric shrugged. “I am now. Everyone’s present.” He slapped the table once. “Who’s for moving to Clary’s place?”

“Is there space?” Zane asked. “Are you sure you’re all right with it?”

Clary nodded and sat in the chair Seth had pulled out for her.
