“He was willing to die for you. Surely you guys can overcome this.”

“No, because Holly is right. Seth won’t even be able to look at me. If Oliver gets arrested …”

“Then he’s an idiot. Why did you fall in love with an idiot?”

“You’re so annoying.” She jumped to her feet when a man in a black sweater and dark gray khakis strode toward them with a bag in hand. “Oh, thank God. I was so close to pushing you in.”

“So was I, Clary. So was I.”

She had expected to stand aside and let the man work. Instead, Uncle David asked for instructions, which was a much better idea. So even if they found a body …

Clary shook her head. No. There won’t be a body.

She waited anxiously while Uncle David thanked and tipped the man. Then, once the man was out of sight, she bit down on her lips as Uncle David lowered the underwater equipment down into the well.

“It’s in.”

Getting back down on the ground, she studied the small screen.

Nothing but clear water.

She rotated the camera three-sixty, using the controller by the screen. “Nothing.” She grinned.

“That’s good news, right?”

Clary jumped at the female voice. “Jesus.” She pressed a hand to her chest. “Andrea, you scared me.”

“Why didn’t you reply to my texts? I thought I was wasting my flight and drive up here.”

“How did you know where I was?”

“I think you shared your location with Seth?” Andrea shrugged, then got down on one knee to get a closer look at the screen.

“My pendant.”

Andrea got up and turned to the house. “Zane’s worried about a video.” She put her hands on her hips. “If we can look around the house and see where are the probable places Holly could have taken a video, we might figure out if she could have taken one.”

“They know?”

“I’m not sure exactly what happened; I had my mask on. But I heard Seth and Elton going at it.” Andrea cocked her head to the side. “Let’s go.”

“No need,” Uncle David said. “According to her driver, she didn’t get home until eight in the morning. She’d fallen asleep at a friend’s place. When she got back, Jimmy was making a fuss, so she slapped him.”

“So Holly wasn’t here the entire night?” Clary asked.

Andrea folded her arms across her chest. “And you trust the driver?”

“Yes, to both questions. The driver is a friend. He wouldn’t lie to me.”

Clary shook her head. “Then how was Holly able to tell me what happened? Her version of what happened matched up with what Seth has told me.”

“I wouldn’t know what that is since no one was willing to talk then, and you aren’t willing to talk now.” Uncle David looked pointedly at her.

Clary sighed and revealed everything.

“It must have been one of the servants, then.” Uncle David’s brows twitched.

“The gardener,” Clary said.
