The IT team worked quietly until Tony came back up after picking up the food Clary ordered. Everyone’s mood improved significantly, and the team joked around about beating up the idiot who did this on Christmas.

A few of the guys chatted with Clary. It started off about food, and then the conversation changed to what they were doing.

If it were anyone else, Seth wouldn’t be comfortable with the amount of information the guys were revealing, but it was Clary.

Seth sat back in his chair and watched her, wondering how much she understood of what the guys were saying. She nodded every now and then, asked questions, then went back to listening.

Once she noticed everyone had finished their food, she and Tony cleared up. The staff all hurriedly tried to help, but Clary ordered all of them back to work.

Seth watched her the whole time, and she smiled when she got to him.

Clary draped an arm across his shoulders. “Are you done with your coffee, Mr. Anderson?”

“Corporate espionage is a crime.”

She leaned close to his ear. “Then luckily for me, I have no idea what they were talking about.” She chuckled and left her arm draped around his shoulders.

“Are you looking for a job here?” He held onto her hand dangling over his shoulder.

She shook her head. “I’m thinking of collecting rent from this billionaire who has his entire family staying at my place. With the rent money, I don’t think I’ll have to work.” She took his empty cup and dropped it into the paper bag she was holding. “In fact, I’m going to do some online shopping now. Maybe find a new dress for a date.”

Seth planted a soft kiss on the back of her hand. “Do you want me to get Oliver to pick you up?”

“And take him away from zombie killing?”

“Aldric?”

“I’m worried he’d kidnap me to a bar.”

He grinned.

“I’m fine where I am. Unless I’m disturbing you?”

Seth shook his head. He wasn’t doing much anyway. He was just staying because it didn’t seem fair for him to head back home while his team had to remain at work. And of course, he was staying in case another major decision had to be made.

“Then I’ll be right there.” She pointed to the empty chair and desk. “Shopping.”

It had been a long time since Clary shopped for clothes.

She rarely ever had time to go out and do so, and all her current clothes were still wearable. But when she’d gone through her clothes to choose something to wear for the date, she realized most of her clothes were more for work. Plain shirts, pants, and jackets.

She was wearing the only skirt she had, which was what had prompted her to reach out to Grandma Moretti to ask for her things.

Then again, she didn’t have many clothes. She’d always preferred comfortable clothing to pretty clothing, which was fine for her to wear to church and go out for dinner with her friends.

But she’d prefer to have something nice to wear for her dates with Seth.

Since there was nothing else to do anyway, she went online and shopped. Her friends had recommended a particular website to her, and she’d seen its advertisements on her Instagram, but she’d never checked it out until now.

Before she knew it, she’d added over three hundred dollars’ worth of clothes to her cart.

She checked to make sure she hadn’t accidentally ordered duplicates of any of the items, then counted the number of items she had in her cart. Nineteen. It wasn’t all that expensive considering the number of items, and that was before the post-Christmas sale discount.

“Why do you look so troubled?”

She looked up at Seth. “I think I went overboard.”
