“I don’t want to use your things.” I searched his face. “I don’t need your things. I just like being around you. You don’t need to give me anything.”

“I appreciate that, angel, but you’re going to have to take things from me, as my girlfriend.” He smiled at the way my lips twitched when he said that last word. “You like being my girlfriend?”

I shrugged and failed at hiding my smile. “I guess.”

“Good. As my girlfriend, you have to let me take care of you.” He kissed me when I opened my mouth to argue. “I can’t wait to rub it in Ryder and Jake’s faces that you agreed to be my girlfriend.”

Mallory parked in one of the wealthier neighborhoods just outside of Austin and stopped the car. We both looked up at the house in front of us and frowned at each other. She checked her GPS and shrugged. “This is the address the woman gave me.”

I shook my head. “No way. We were supposed to be looking at affordable apartments that the two of us could rent together. You told her that we were poor, right? This is one of the nicest houses I’ve ever seen.”

“Of course I told her that we’re poor. It was the first thing I told her.” Mallory opened her door and stepped out. “I guess we should see if she’s here and tell her she’s an asshole for bringing us to a house we’ll never be able to afford.”

I groaned. “Let’s not. Let’s just leave and find someone else, Mal.”

The front door to the house opened and Sebastian walked out. His eyes locked on mine as he walked towards me with a key ring swinging around his finger.

“What are you doing here?” Mallory looked back at me. “Did you know he was going to be here?”

I got out of the car and frowned at him. “What is this? How’d you know we were going to be here?”

He tossed me the keys and ran his eyes up and down my body. “You look beautiful.”

I smiled as he swept me into his arms and kissed me. Grinning up at him, I kissed him again and then looked down at the keys he’d tossed me. “What’s this?”

“I wanted my kiss before you potentially got pissed at me.” He gestured at the house behind him. “It’s yours. You need to be somewhere safe and now you don’t have to stress about it.”

My mouth dropped open. “What?”

He winced. “I bought you a house.”

I slapped his chest and tried to move away but his arms were locked around me. “Sebastian! You didn’t! You can’t do that!”

He shrugged. “I can, though. And I did.”

The sound of a car pulling into the driveway behind us startled me and I spun in his arms to see Ryder and Jake climbing out of a small hatchback. They looked up at the house and nodded at Sebastian.

“Nice. I noticed that it’s just a couple of streets over from your house. What a coincidence?” Ryder smirked and then took the keys from my hand, only to slip the car key onto the ring and hand it back. “Now you have a safe house and a safe car to park in front of it.”

Jake took the keys and rattled them before handing them back. “My gift doesn’t have a key, but I didn’t want to be left out. There’s a designer coming tomorrow to help you design the nursery of your dreams. She can help with everything else, if you want, too. Your choice. Everything’s taken care of, so don’t hold back.”

I shook my head hard enough to send my hair flying. “No. This is insane. No! I’m not taking all of this from y’all.”

Mallory let out a shriek and ran over to slap her hand over my mouth. “Yes, she is. She’s taking it and she’s going to let her big sister move into this amazing house with her. She says thank you and good job.”

I bit her hand to get her to move it. “No! This is too much. I mean it. The flowers were acceptable, normal gifts. This? This is wild.”

Mallory gripped my face and stared into my eyes. “I can move in with you and Avery in this house, Fifi. I can help take care of you when you’re super fat with the baby on the way and can’t bend over to tie your shoes. I can know that you’re safe and never have to worry that you’re going to see a random drug deal and end up on the lamb with a cop that leaves you after the threat is over.”

Ryder cleared his throat. “Is that something I should’ve been worrying about?”

I rolled my eyes and shook my head. “No.”

“Do it for Avery, Fifi. Do it for our family.” Mallory hugged me tight and then turned me so we were both looking up at the house. “There have to be enough rooms in that house for the twins to each have their own space when they’re older.”
