“My dad told me they’d use symbols and emojis to hide information,” he adds. “Moon for night time. Seashells for the beach. Things like that.”

“Any idea what these mean?” I ask him.

He shrugs. “Nope.”

I glance at his flyer. He tilts it to let me and I get a better look at the symbols. “Yours differ from ours,” I note.

Emerson smirks. “Must be on different teams,” he says playfully. “Nothing like a little harmless competition to bring guys together, huh?”

“I guess,” I say.

He glances over my shoulder and smiles. “Well, I’ll see you guys later,” he says before shuffling off.

I look at Alex and Ben. Nothing but snarls pointed at Emerson.

I fold my flyer back into my pocket.

“You saw it, right?” Alex asks Ben.

Ben nods. “Oh, I saw it.”

“Saw what?” I ask.

“The way he was hanging around Dana all day.” Alex practically growls. “Yes, princess? Would you like some more, princess? How about a lap dance, princess?”

I nod. They aren’t wrong. “He was like that at the party last night, too,” I say.

“Well, that ends now. I’m not letting Dana anywhere near that guy — or any guy here.”

“Whatever happened to she can make her own decisions?” Ben teases.

“When did I say that?”

Ben and I chuckle.

“I’m serious,” Alex says, his face suddenly very serious. “Loyalty means everything in this house, right? Brothers don’t mess around with each other’s sisters.”

My gut clenches.

“We hear about one of our own closing in on her, we put an end to it. Together,” he says, staring daggers at both of us. “Think about it, Ben. When we’re living here next year, do you want to be eating breakfast and see her stroll down the stairs and walk of shame out the front door?”

Ben cringes. Hell, even I do.

“Not really, no,” he answers.

“Then, we agree. I don’t care what she does or who with — as long as they’re not Delta Xi.”

Ben nods.

I nod too, the motion of it making me seasick.

“Especially not Emerson,” Alex adds, spitting his name.

“Yeah, why was she even allowing that?” Ben asks. “Guy doesn’t even look good in blue.”

“Not as good as you do.”

“Exactly. Hey, you hungry?”
