“My god, he told me he had been in rehab because of an accident, but I didn’t know it was that serious.”

“It was serious all right. His respirator was knocked off in the fall and if they hadn’t gotten to him when they did, he would have died of smoke inhalation.” She lit another cigarette. “As it was, the doctors didn’t know if he would ever walk again. Three surgeries and six months of rehab later, he walked out of the hospital on his own power.”

“Wow, that is amazing. He is a tough individual.”

“He didn’t do it on his own. Aiden was with him every step of the way. I think that is when they realized they were in love with each other.” She gave me another grin. Of course, I knew it long before they did. Just like I know they are falling for you.”

“Stop that,” I told her. “We are just friends.”

“Don't fight it, honey, just enjoy the ride. If I had known about this throuple stuff back when I was your age—there was this friend of Jack’s—well, it's too late for me and I can't complain. Jack is a good man and after thirty-two years, the sex is still phenomenal.” She took another drag on her cigarette. “What I'm trying to say is don't settle for just one ordinary man when there's two that would lie down their lives for you.”

I wasn't sure how to respond, but thankfully, the back door opened and Logan stepped out. “The first legs are starting.”

Jenny dropped her cigarette in the sand bucket. “Don’t you dare tell Jack I was out here smoking.” He rolled his eyes and smiled at me. I tried to read his face, looking for any sign that Jenny might be right.

When we were back inside, she went off to wash the smoke smell from her hands. I let Logan guide me through the crowd to where he'd save the table for us, next to the dart boards. His hand brushed against the small of my back, sending shivers up my spine when he leaned in to ask, “So, what were you and Jenny talking about out there?”

“Threesomes, if you can believe it.”

“Nothing that woman says would surprise me. You're lucky she didn't ask you if we're doing it yet.”

“I think she just assumed we were.” I licked my lips and put a hand on his knee. "It would be a shame to prove her wrong.”

He blushed and shifted in his seat, widening the distance between us. I followed his eyes and saw Aiden looking back at us. He was wearing a brown sweater that matched his soft eyes perfectly. Jenny had to be crazy. The only thing I saw on their faces was how in love they were with each other.

Our backgrounds were so different. The idea of the three of us together in some kind of relationship was insane. Even if Jenny were right, I wasn’t sure I was ready to jump into another relationship after barely escaping my last one. Aiden looked our way again. We smiled and gave him a thumbs up before he stepped to the line.

Aiden

The first legs had just started when Ember and Logan took their seats. I should have been focusing on the game, but I couldn’t take my eyes off of them, each so beautiful in their own way. The pale blue button-down fit Logan perfectly, hugging his strong biceps and broad chest before tapering down to the perfect V of his waist. He had left the top button undone, offering a small glimpse of chest hair.

He leaned into Ember and whispered something. Her full lips parted, revealing a perfect smile. A smile so warm it could melt any heart. Even mine. Her piercing eyes did not miss a thing. It was as if she always knew what I was thinking. How I wanted to give in to temptation. I wanted her just as badly as I wanted Logan. They smiled and gave me a thumbs up, reminding me of why I was there.

I stepped to the line and doubled in with a bullseye. For the rest of the match, I was in a zone and cruised through my first three sets. But the team score was dead even going into the fifth and final match. I stepped to the line, needing 150 points to zero out and secure the win for RFD.

It felt like all eyes were on me. I tried to focus only on the board. Logan yelled, “You've got this Aiden,” causing me to smile. My first throw was a bullseye—fifty points, my next dart a triple twenty, good for sixty more. The rules required I double out, meaning I had to place my final dart in the narrowest part of the board.

Just as I stepped to the line, the band started playing. I took a deep breath, double checked the flight, and then released. I was quickly surrounded by my teammates and a small contingent of firefighters who had shown up to support us. Patiently I accepted their congratulations, but all I wanted to do was find Logan and Ember and share the moment with them.

They were waiting for me near the dance floor. Logan patted my back and Ember gave me a hug that lingered longer than friends should probably embrace. When we finally separated, she grabbed us by the hands and said, “Dance with me.”

As we moved across the floor, I was awed by the way she gave herself to the music. Her movements were fluid and uninhibited. But the longer we were out there, the more sexual her motions became. A hand on an arm or chest did not seem out of place, but she was grinding against us, bending over, and shaking her ass. I could tell by Logan's expression it was turning him on. However, I was concerned about the sudden change in her behavior. Ember had flirted with us before, but limited it to the occasional innuendo. What she was doing now was much more than sexy talk. She was trying to seduce us.

After a few songs, I said I needed a break. They followed me towards the bar. Ember ran a hand down my arm, “Be a doll and order me a Coke, while I use the ladies’ room.”

I turned to Logan as soon as she was gone. “How much has she had to drink?”

“I’ve only seen her drinking Coke,” he said. “Unless she had something stronger while her and Jenny were on the patio.”

“You let her go off alone with Jenny?” I asked. “No wonder she is acting strange. God knows what ideas that woman put in her head.”

“What’s wrong with the way she’s behaving? I like it.”

Before I could remind him we had agreed Ember was off limits; his eyes grew dark. “You gotta be fucking kidding me,” he growled and stormed off. I looked to see where he was going.

Across the bar, Ember had just come out of the restroom. Logan and her ex were headed towards her from opposite directions. Logan got there first and when Reggie saw him, he stopped dead in his tracks, his face seething with anger. I slid off my stool and went to join them. Reggie wisely turned and rejoined his friends at the pool table. None of us had seen him come in. I asked Ember if she was all right. “Yeah. I'm just surprised to see him here. This isn’t one of his usual places.

Logan said what we were both thinking. “Maybe he followed us here.”
