“Fine, then I suppose we could find something boring to do.” He plops down onto the couch and crosses his legs.

“Uh, uh, buddy, you’re not staying here.” I waggle a finger at him.

“Why not?” Those brilliant blue eyes latch onto me, and my stupid, stupid heart flip-flops.

“Because we’re not dating, we’re not friends, and I didn’t even invite you over.”

“Not yet.”

“Not ever,” I hiss.

His hand snaps out and wraps around mine, tugging me forward. I fall into his lap, and a wicked chuckle echoes in the air. “You’re so easy, little fox.”

I glare up at him as he cradles me in his lap, one arm across my middle like a steel lap belt.

“Why do you fight this when I know it’s what you want.” His fingers dance down my arm, and goose bumps ripple in their wake.

“You know nothing.” I try to get up, but his hold only tightens.

His free hand drifts from my arm to the top button of my blouse. My breath hitches as he toys with the silver fastener. “Tell me to stop.”

“Stop.”

“Say it like you mean it. Without your chest heaving, your pulse accelerating, or your pupils dilated.”

“Eff you, Nico.” I clench my teeth and force my traitorous heart to stop pounding.

“That’s all I want, little fox.” He smirks and darn dang it, that seductive look is so unfair. “I just want to make you come, while your conscious this time. Why won’t you let me?” He pauses, eyes intent on mine. “There don’t have to be any strings attached.”

“There are always strings,” I mutter. I clap my hand over my mouth as soon as the words spill out. Why am I even considering this insane offer?

“Let me stay tonight, and I promise you an evening like you’ve never had before. I’ll make you come so hard that little kidnapping faux pas will be nothing but a faded memory. And if after that, you want me to stay away, I will.”

“You will?”

He smirks and crosses his finger over his heart. “I swear.”

This could be just what I need to finally get the obsessive mob boss out of my life. “You’re that convinced that you’re so irresistible one night is all it’ll take?”

Nico nods. “I won’t even use my cock if that’s what you want. No pleasure for me, only for you.”

“Well, I’ve never actually had an uh, org…orgasm from sex.” Sugar, what is wrong with me? Why would I admit that?

His eyes go impossibly wide, the deep blue more fathomless than the Caribbean Sea. “You’re kidding?” He continues to watch me, his stare so intense I’m not sure if I want to hide from it or dive in and get swallowed up in the shimmering depths. “Actually, on second thought, I’m not all that surprised, given my brief acquaintance with your ex. The arrogant sociopath seems like he would be a selfish lover. But no one else?”

I shake my head, holding my tongue before I spill the embarrassing truth that I’ve only ever been with one man.

“And yet, I made you come in your sleep without even truly touching you.” A cocky smirk flashes across his face.

“Takes an arrogant butthead to know one.”

A deep chuckle erupts from his lips and geez, the sound is like melted butter. His arm loosens from my middle so I’m able to sit up. He doesn’t let me go any farther than that. His mouth inches toward mine, so close I can make out the scar across his upper lip. “Let me make up for what I did to you the only way I know how. Please, little fox.”

All the air rushes from my lungs as those eyes pierce into mine. They’re like scavengers searching and pillaging, until they find the cracks in my carefully constructed armor. Because the hold this man has on my body is much less frightening than what he’s doing to my soul.

My head slowly dips, the movement so faint I’m not certain I had any control over it at all.

“I need you to say it, Maisy. Tell me you want me to stay.”
