“What’s up, Carter?”

“Hey, Shaun. I won’t be at that meeting.”

“Why?”

“I stopped to help this girl on the side of the road. Her car broke down. The tow truck is here now, but he can’t drive her to the auto shop, so I’m taking her to the rental car shop.”

“That’s nice of you. How old is this girl?”

“I’d say late twenties, early thirties.” I stared at her as she watched the man hook her car up to the truck.

“Is she hot?”

“Yeah, cousin. She is.” I smiled.

“We’ll talk later. Go do what you have to do. I’ll reschedule the meeting.”

“Thanks, Shaun.”

“Let’s go, stranded girl,” I shouted.

We climbed into my car, and I punched the address to the rental car shop into my GPS.

“We’ll never make it,” she said.

“Sure, we will.” I grinned as I took off.

She looked over at me as I was weaving in and out of traffic and driving faster than I should have been.

“You drive like a maniac.”

“Do you want to get to the rental car place before it closes?” I smirked.

“Well, yes, but I don’t want to die before we get there.”

“What’s your name?” I asked.

“Stranded girl. I already told you.”

“Don’t you think I have the right to know your name since I’m helping you out? After all, I did have to cancel an important meeting.”

“Fine. My name is Zoey. That’s all you’re getting in case you try to stalk me.”

“You’re paranoid.” I glanced at her with a smile.

“A woman can never be too careful these days,” she said.

“Fair enough. Look at that,” I said as I pulled into the car rental shop. “Ten minutes to spare.”

She climbed out and ran into the shop when I parked the car. I followed behind.

“Can I help you?” The woman behind the counter glanced at her watch.

“I need a rental car asap,” Zoey said. “But I need something like an SUV.”

“The only SUV we have right now is a Nissan Rogue.”

“I’ll take it.”
