Still, I can't shake the feeling that she's here for a reason beyond just a night out. There’s something about her—a quiet strength masked by vulnerability—that resonates with me on a level I can't quite explain.

But no, I have to remind myself why I'm approaching her in the first place—it's not because of the way my body leans toward hers or how my senses seem more acute with her mere presence. It's about ensuring her safety—a task that falls squarely on my shoulders.

With each step closer, my resolve strengthens even as my curiosity grows. She might be an enigma wrapped in allure and grace, but tonight she's also someone under my protection—whether she realizes it or not. And as much as part of me yearns to delve deeper into the mystery before me, I have responsibilities that cannot be ignored.

For now, those duties will have to suffice as a barrier against whatever dangerous pull this woman has over me.

I close the distance between us just as one of the burly men who've been eyeing her moves in, his unwelcome approach etched clearly on her face by a look of fear. A stark contrast to the guests dancing and laughing around her.

The man stops before her, reaching out to grasp her hand. In an instant reaction, she thrusts his hand away with a forceful jolt and her sudden movement brushes her untouched drink, sending the brown liquor spilling across the bar.

“How dare you put your hands on me...” the woman threatens in a strong, determined voice. She has a temper, I think.

“Come on, Mrs. Prescott. You know the boss doesn't like you hanging out in clubs without him.”

“I don't care what Brandon thinks. He can go fuck himself for all I care. What I do or where I go are no longer his concern.”

The moment the man raises his hand to touch her again, I step between them. “She's made it clear that she doesn't want to go with you.”

The man is bigger than me, but that doesn't intimidate me. I stand firmly in front of him, shielding the woman behind me.

“Mind your own fucking business,” the man mumbles.

A small smirk creeps across my lips, and with a calm authority in my tone, I use the earpiece to summon my team. “Vince, I need these gentlemen escorted out—now. They're permanently banned from Club Allure.”

The big man and his partner immediately turn around, surveying the scene. At least four members of my security team approach them.

Looking at me with deep contempt, the man in front of me takes a step forward. “You have no idea what you're getting into, or who you're messing with, pretty boy,” he warns.

The smile on my lips becomes much more pronounced. “Luckily for you, I don't give a fuck.”

Ignoring him, I turn as my men escort the two mastodons out of the club and instead focus my attention on the young woman at my back.

She looks up almost immediately, her green eyes locking onto mine with an intensity that seems to pierce through my walls.

As I watch her, I feel something strange contract inside my body, as if an old dormant emotion is awakening inside me.

No, I attempt to warn myself, knowing that this mystery woman is making all my alerts suddenly jump.

“Are you okay?” I ask in the calmest tone of voice I possess.

She nods and runs her fingers through her hair, going through it in an apparent nervous gesture. “I appreciate what you've done, but that won't stop them,” she states.

“I can call the police, if you wish.”

The stranger denies. “No. With them it won't do any good.” A grimace furrows her perfect lips. “They're partly right. I appreciate the help, but you'd do well to stay out of it. You don't know who you're messing with.”

Curious, I raise an eyebrow. It's obvious that she's running from someone, and that person intimidates her enough to not want to involve anyone in her problems.

It's also evident that she's a strong girl. Faced with the precariousness of the situation, she is not trembling, nor does she look scared, just resentful.

“In that case, I'll walk you to your car, if you’d like.”

“I didn't bring a car,” admits the stranger.

“Do you wish me to drive you somewhere then?”

She looks at me with one of her eyebrows raised in question. “That won't be necessary...”
