And the missing piece to this puzzle I am trying to solve cuts through my thoughts as I re-enter the locker room.

“Let’s watch at my place,” Luca says, and I try to ignore him as I shove my clothes in my locker.

“Yeah, you don’t mind?” Rosa asks eagerly.

“Not at all, I have the space and lots of baked goods to serve,” Luca chuckles.

I grab my wraps, close my locker door, and turn to head into the gym.

“Ty?” Noah asks in his soft voice. “You going to come?”

I stop, looking around at the hopeful faces all staring back at me. My eyes briefly meet Luca’s, but I quickly drop them to the wraps in my hands and shake my head. “No.”

“Aw,” Rosa pouts, “we’d love to see you outside the gym sometime!”

“Yeah, I mean, unless you have some other awesome plans, you should come.” Elijah smiles widely as I glance at him.

I sigh at that thought. I don’t have any plans to watch the fights because I don’t have a TV and I can’t stand watching anything in a bar around drunk idiots, when you can’t even hear anything. And I need to watch these fights, as I’ve been looking forward to this card since it was announced months ago. Which means I’ll likely be trying to watch them on my phone at home.

“I’m good, thanks,” I say, bringing my gaze back down as I move to leave the locker room again.

But I stop when Luca asks, “So where will you watch them?”

I shoot him a look as he adopts his cocky as fuck smirk. “Does it matter?”

He shrugs innocently. “Just wondering. Maybe we’d rather join your plans.”

I narrow my eyes at him as he crosses his arms and casually tilts his head, waiting.

Prick.

“I don’t know yet,” I grit out.

“Ah!” He dramatically holds his hands out wide. “So you are free to join us. Perfect.”

Just as I’m about to leave the locker room for real this time, Rosa steps forward. “Please, Ty? I really would love for you to join.”

I glance once more around the room as everyone smiles back at me. I don’t get it. I’m actively trying to keep everyone at a distance, yet they just keep trying to get closer. Why?

Luca cocks an eyebrow at me, his features softening, ever so slightly.

I swallow and look down at Rosa. “Maybe.”

Rosa smiles and nods. “Awesome.”

“Hm.” Luca shakes his head. “I’m sorry but, I’m going to need a concrete answer. I take my hosting responsibilities very seriously, and I need numbers in order to effectively prepare. I’ll need to confirm this with you tonight.” He raises his wrist to check his watch, which he’s not even wearing. “Actually, right now.”

If we weren’t in the gym and surrounded by witnesses, I would launch myself across this locker room and beat him into the floor.

He easily slides his cocky smirk back into place, and light dances in his eyes. He’s fucking with me, and we both know it.

We also both know it’s working.

And fuck, I really do need to watch these fights. And my only two options - my phone or a bar - fucking suck.

I also can’t ignore an interesting feeling creeping in at the thought of being in Luca’s apartment.

My brain is truly fucked.
