Flip the narrative, Odi, just like you said.

“Do you need a diagram drawing for you or would you prefer an instruction manual, dear?” I drawl sarcastically.

“What?” He blinks owlishly at the tableaux of our still entwined limbs tangled in the bed sheets as a crease forms between his brows at my words. It’s like we’ve short-circuited his brain, and he can’t possibly multitask. Watching meandlistening to me, comprehending me, seem too much for his brain to handle right now.

Smirking, I extract myself from the bed and cross the room, naked and with Zie’s cum sliding down my thighs, towards Axel. His gaze is heated, trained on me with the precision of a sniper, but for entirely different reasons now. He greedily drinks in my curves and swallows noticeably.

“What’s the matter, darling, cat got your tongue?”

“Odi—” he warns, but it’s weak.

I have the power. The upper hand. And I intend to use it. Poor Axel, he thought slipping a ring on my finger would make me loyal to only him. He’s got another thing coming if he thinks I’ll give up the others so easily.

I rise up onto my tiptoes, my breasts brushing his chest, and I kiss his cheek. I don’t miss the way he inhales deeply and his eyelids close to half-mast.

“The wedding planner’s here,” he manages to breathe out.

“Oh. Have they been waiting long?” I ask, faking concern in my tone.

He nods. “I’ve been talking to her for the past thirty minutes.”

“Oh well in that case, you better get back to her, honey.I’m going to take a shower.”

“What?” he repeats. I have to try hard not to chuckle. “You can’t.”

“I can and I will, husband of mineto be.I can’t very well go and meet the wedding planner smelling of sex when you’ve been entertaining her for the last half an hour.” I drop my voice to a conspiratorial whisper and wink. “She’ll know it wasn’t you making me scream.”

The blank look comes down again and a giggle slips past my lips.

“I think you broke him, babygirl,” Kaiden calls out.

It’s enough to knock Axel out of his stupor.

“Don’t be long,” he snaps at me. As he turns on his heel to leave, he pauses in the doorway and looks back at the guys stilllounging on the bed. “We’ll talk about this later.” He slams the door behind him as he leaves.

As soon as he’s gone I dissolve into fits of giggles, which is probably more of a nervous response, but the other two come and hug me.

“That was amazing, Odi,” Zie says.

“So proud of you,” Kaiden reiterates. “Need a hand showering?”

I shake my head but grin at him. “As tempting as that offer is, I’d better not push my luck too much. It’s only day one after all.”

The others laugh and leave me to it, and I hurry off to shower and clean up the mess between my thighs.

As I step into the shower, I can’t help but smile at the memory of Axel’s discombobulated expression. It’s a good feeling, having the upper hand for once. It’s been a long time since I’ve been in control of my own life, and I intend to savour this moment.

Lathering my body with the soap, I think about the last twenty-four hours. I knew what I was getting into when I first met Axel, but it’s difficult to shake the feeling that I’m being controlled. I want to be, I think I do, but the thought of being someone’s property is still a foreign concept to me. Is there any way I can go through with this marriage to Axel but demand that he treats me as an equal? It’s the only way for this to work, but he’s never been known for his ability to compromise.

Then there’s Kaiden and Zie. I’m not prepared to give them up, no matter what he says or threatens. I don’t think he’ll kill them. Not really. Not once he knows how much they mean to me.

I just have to find my backbone, steel it, and start articulating what I want.

I step out of the shower, I dry off and turn to the walk in closet. It’s twice the size of Axel’s one in the apartment weshared on campus before the fire, and I have to shake my head at how over the top and unnecessary it is. Although, given that he’s fully stocked it with clothes for me, I guess I’ll have to begrudgingly admit that it’s notentirelyunnecessary. I don’t fancy wandering around in my birthday suit, especially to meet the wedding planner.

Fucking wedding planner. I’m eighteen and getting married. Fuck.

My time has run out. I didn’t have a choice.
