“But you are one. Women chase you everywhere.”

“So?”

How can he not understand what I’m saying?

“They’re not you, Indy. You’re the one I want.”

“But I’m here in Winter Falls and you’re wherever.”

“Then, I’ll move to Winter Falls.” He shrugs as if it’s no big deal.

“You can’t snap your fingers and – boom! – your home is now in Winter Falls.”

“You’re right. Let me alert Aurora. She’ll handle everything.” He digs in his pocket for his phone.

“You’re serious?”

“As a broken guitar string.”

“What if I leave Winter Falls after the year is up and sell Grandma’s house?”

“Then, I’ll call Aurora and she’ll handle moving us back to San Diego.”

“I need to meet this Aurora.”

“Don’t be jealous. She’s not interested in me.”

“I’m not jealous.” I’m totally jealous. This Aurora seems to know everything about Cash and his life. I don’t know anything. Maybe I should have read all those magazines with his stupidly handsome face on the cover.

“Are we done?”

“Done?”

“Have I convinced you I’m serious about this relationship?”

I try to come up with another reason to push him away but the annoying man has an answer for every issue I bring up. Am I still worried about him being gone all the time? Yes. But if I want to give this relationship a try, I need to give him a chance to prove he’s worth my time. No matter how much it scares me.

“For now.”

“Good.” He stands and throws me over his shoulder.

“What are you doing?” I squeal.

“Showing you I’m worth the risk.”

His hand kneads my butt. It feels good but my clothes are in the way. I want to feel his hand touching my naked skin. And not just his hand. His mouth, too. Definitely his mouth. My body tingles in anticipation.

“I might need a lot of convincing.”

“We’ve got all the time in the world, sweetness. All the time in the world.”
