“For…”

“Let’s just say that Nicole really needs to pick better passwords if she wants to ensure that the blocks that she set up so that her parents couldn’t see what she was really doing stayed up. But just in case they missed anything, I decided to go through everything and tagged them so that they could see what she’s been doing with the gardener’s son when they’re not home,” Jonathan explained with a satisfied sigh.

“You hacked into her social media accounts?” Mikey asked, shaking her head in disbelief while Sebastian chuckled.

“Of course I did. I couldn’t let her keep making our favorite little pain in the ass’s life a living hell now, could we?”

“Thank you,” Mikey said as he gave her hand a gentle squeeze.

“Next time, we’re not standing by and letting it go on. Whether or not your last name is Bradford, you’re still one of us,” Jonathan explained before adding, “So is the traitor that shoved me in the closet.”

“You had it coming,” Braxton said, trying to shrug it off like it was no big deal, but he could tell that he was pleased.

“Shhhh, not while I’m sleeping,” Jonathan mumbled as Mikey gave Sebastian’s hand a gentle squeeze that had him turning his head and-

Groaning softly when she cupped the back of his neck and pulled him down so that she could make it easier for him to do the one thing that he’d been thinking about since she snuck into his room. It should probably terrify him just how quickly he was becoming addicted to her lips, but at the moment, he didn’t care.

For several minutes, Sebastian took his time, moving his lips against hers, savoring every touch, soft moan, and brush of her lips against his as he reached up to cup her face in his hands, only to find himself suddenly shoved away as his bedroom light came on.

Trying to make sense of what was happening, Sebastian glanced back only to wish that he hadn’t when he spotted his father standing at the end of his bed, releasing a heavy sigh as he pinched the bridge of his nose.

“It’s almost five in the morning. What are you doing here, Mikey?” his father asked, leaving Sebastian struggling to remember how to breathe.

“Enjoying a heavy makeout session before I have to call it a night,” Mikey said, taking ten years off his life as he debated making a run for it.

“This is just getting sad,” his father said with a sad shake of his head and a gesture for Mikey to come with him.

Clearing her throat, Mikey said, “I prefer to be carried,” making his father’s lips twitch.

“You’re lucky that you’re adorable, Mikey,” his father said, chuckling as he reached over and plucked Mikey off the bed and threw her over his shoulder.

“I know,” she said with a heartfelt sigh as he headed for the door, leaving Sebastian sitting there, once again smiling as he thought about that kiss and-

“You know that kiss was meant for me, right?” Jonathan asked with a satisfied sigh that was followed by a loud, “Ow!” when the book that Sebastian threw connected with his forehead.

“Please tellme that this isn’t happening,” Chloe said as she stared helplessly at the large puddle forming in front of the refrigerator that stopped working sometime in the middle of the night.

“It isn’t happening,” Katie said with a firm nod as she grabbed a chair and dragged it towards the refrigerator.

“Why are you lying to me?” Chloe asked, feeling numb as she glanced from the water covering the floor to the refrigerator as Katie climbed onto the chair and helped herself to the ice cream that was melting.

“Because you told me to,” Katie pointed out as she climbed back down, grabbed a spoon and dug in.

“We should move the rest of the food downstairs to the freezer before it spoils,” Chloe mumbled weakly as she moved to do just that when Katie’s next words had her biting back a groan.

“We sold that in December to pay off Cole.”

“Great,” Chloe said, sighing heavily as she carefully made her way to the fridge, helped herself to the bowl of pudding that she made yesterday and-

“Would now be a good time to have that talk?” came the question that had Chloe swallowing hard as she slowly turned around to find Cole dropping down on a kitchen chair.

“What talk would that be?” Chloe asked, forcing the words out of her mouth as she waited for the words that she already knew were coming.

“The one where we renegotiate your surrender.”
