As we reach the room across from what used to be Birdie’s, bile rises in my throat when I see nude pictures of our girl taped to all the walls. Carl is on the floor with blood dripping from his mouth.

“You…are…fucking dead,” I hiss, lunging for him and slamming a fist into his already fucked-up face. I only get one blow before Vicious yanks me off.

“You kill him, and you go to jail, and neither of us get her.” Pausing at his words, I try to contain the seething fury boiling my blood. “I’ve called our contact in the department already.” Normally, I’m the levelheaded one, trying to talk Vicious off whatever ledge he’s creeping towards, but Birdie has changed everything. She makes me want to be both a better man and kill everyone who has ever done her wrong.

We are so fucked with her.

CHAPTER 5

Birdie

When I first arrived at school, I felt invisible. Like nobody could touch me and take away my great mood. The fanciful feeling was quickly thwarted when I was summoned from my second-period class to the office, where I had to explain my behavior from yesterday. After they forced me to apologize to Jesse, I wanted to leave again. It made me sick. And because nobody could see what he tried to do to me, it was all he-said, she-said, and they sided with him.

I’m furious as the last bell rings, and I’m treated like a pariah by virtually everyone—students and teachers alike. Hurrying to my locker, I ignore the whispers and bumps as I grab the sweater I left here yesterday and slip it on. As soon as I slam the metal door closed, Jesse is lurking with his friends.

Quickly walking to the front doors, I reach the steps just as his creepy hands grasp me the same way they did yesterday. His fingers trying to push their way down the front of my skirt in front of everyone already outside as he rubs his hard-on into my ass.

“Knew they’d side with me. I could fuck you here with everyone watching and get away with it. Money buys things, honey; maybe it’ll buy your open legs, too.” I try to pull away, but he holds me tight. I cry out when he bites my neck, and tears sting my eyes.

“Vicious!” My head pops up as I hear his name.

Storming towards us is one very homicidal man with a switchblade in his hand, ready to kill the boy who can’t let go of me quick enough. Chaos follows behind, shaking his head, a matching glare on his face.

“Vicious,” I sigh his name as the beast approaches me. His body is coiled and ready to strike as his gaze pins Jesse, where he now stands a foot behind me.

“Are you okay?” The words come out softer than expected.

“I am now.” Leaning my head on his chest, I listen to his thundering heartbeat behind the wall of muscle and feel soothed.

“I want to cut his fingers off,” he hisses. Glancing up, I see he’s bared his teeth at the boy who was just attempting to assault me. Again.

As Chaos reaches us, I think we’re both stunned when he grabs the knife from Vic’s hand and storms at Jesse. Pinning him with a forearm against the wall, he leans in close, placing the edge of the blade to his cheek and whispering something so alarming in his ear that the boy pales, and his legs begin to shake.

Turning back to us, Chaos’ grin is predatory as he bends down to lift me fireman-style. “We’re fucking as soon as we get through that door. No more of this high school bullshit. These pussies are going to know who you belong to by smell alone.” His words heat my core, and my thighs begin to rub together, anticipating all the things he promised this morning.

As Chaos marches away with me over his shoulder, Vicious grabs a fist of my hair and pulls my head up, laying claim to my lips in front of at least half the school. For a split second, I worry about rumors, and then I taste his tongue and forget about everything but these two men. I don’t understand how they’ve done it, but they’ve completely overtaken my life in less than twenty-four hours.

I should be worried, scared even. I’m not. It feels right, like my life is finally clicking into place, and as Chaos effortlessly slips me into the back seat of their vehicle, climbing in alongside me, Vicious takes the wheel, and I lose my breath from the heat in his eyes. It’s not just lust I see, it’s obsession and possessiveness.

Ownership.

He…no…they want to own me.

God forgive me, I want them to.

“You have this deer-in-the-headlights look, little momma,” Chaos hisses as his hands ball into tight fists on either side of him. Vicious tears away from the curb and my body is tossed back against the seat. Rather than put a seat belt on, I crawl into Chaos’ lap.

His burly chest heaves as I lower my body and feel the pulsing hardness between my thighs. “I have a secret,” I whisper to him. He doesn’t say anything, and I can see his jaw ticking. I don’t understand why he’s holding back now, but I suspect it’s because we’re in the car. “I have no idea what I’m doing.” I tilt my head. “Will you teach me?”

Like a rubber band, he snaps. One hand shoots up to grasp my neck in a clenched hold that doesn’t hurt, while the other goes to my hair, tugging on the strands until my head is bent back and I’m looking at the roof of the car.

“Baby, I’ll fucking teach you anything you want, but you need to learn something first.” His teeth graze along the side of my throat as his fingers flex.

“What?” I gasp when he uses his strength to push up into me, brushing along my sensitive areas.

“Don’t tempt the fucking beast.” His teeth sink into my neck as his fingers tighten, and breathing becomes difficult. A bolt of electricity rushes through my body, zapping every pleasure point I have until I see stars. Time passes in a blur as he continues to suck on my neck and bite along my shoulder. Chaos isn’t gentle, he’s brutal and full of dark desire, holding on by a fragile thread.

Before long, I’m tossed on a bed with a soft bounce. Blinking my eyes open, my vision clears enough to watch these two men…beasts…circle the room like caged animals, fighting to restrain their needs.
