There was nothing else but the two of us and the burn of our bodies against each other. Nothing else mattered.

Moments after we finished, he rolled off me and pulled me to his body. I laid on top of him on the floor and our legs tangled together.

We breathed heavily, pressed together despite the sweat covering our bodies. The cool marble floors provided a small relief.

I placed my chin on his chest and stared up at him. I brushed the bite mark on his shoulder. "I'm sorry about that."

He shrugged as best as he could with an easy grin. His eyes were filled with obvious adoration. "It's okay. You can bite me whenever you want."

I chuckled quietly. "Thank you for today. I had the best time. Izzy says thank you too."

"You're both welcome. I'm glad you had fun." I kissed his chest, letting my lips linger. He ran his fingers down my spine.

Goosebumps rose on my skin, and I shivered. He pulled away from me slightly. "Are you cold?" He sat up a bit. "We can go to-"

"No," I cut him off and pushed him back down. "No. Here is perfect." I laid my head against his chest again. My eyes fluttered closed with a contented sigh. "Everything is perfect."

Chaper Thirteen Alexander

"It's been a pleasure meeting with you gentlemen." I rose to my feet. The two other men I'd been in the meeting with stood as well. They adjusted their suit coats. "I look forward to future business ventures." I shook hands with each of them in turn.

"We look forward to it as well," one of them said. "I can tell we're going to be good business partners. Excuse us."

Sophia stood and nodded to them with a smile. They nodded at her in return and then left the meeting room. She let out a sigh once they were done and rubbed her eyes.

I watched her worriedly. It had been about three months since we'd officially started dating. Three months filled with late-night dates, riotous laughter, and mind-blowing sex.

We'd never been happier, at least I thought so. Recently though, something had changed.

She had been acting differently the past few days. I'd woken up once to her eating peanut butter, something I was sure she hated. She was always tired and rubbing her eyes.

She was distant as well. She spent a lot of time staring into space. Sometimes, I had to say her name multiple times for her to answer.

"Are you okay?" The question had become a sort of mantra for me. I asked her that same thing basically every day now. Her answer was always the same. A forced smile and a nod.

Unsurprisingly, she did just that. "Of course." She rubbed her thumb against the back of my palm. "Don't worry about me. I'm fine."

"I have to worry. You've been different this week."

"I have not."

"You yelled because the fridge in the breakroom broke down."

"I was hungry, and my lunch ended up rotten."

I pointed a hand at her. "That's another thing. You've been eating a lot more than usual."

Sophia whipped around to face me and her smile dropped into a scowl. The murderous look on her face made me gulp. "If you want to say I'm fat, then just say it."

"That's not what I meant." I ran my hand through my hair. "You know I think you're perfect. Sophia, to me, you’re special. You’re everything I’ve ever wanted. I'm just worried about you."

"You don't need to be..." She trailed off. She placed a hand to her forehead. She squinted at me for a moment.

"Sophia?" Her hands gripped the edge of the long meeting table. I held her from behind. "Sophia, what's wrong?" She teetered in her heels for a moment before she fell. I grabbed her quickly, leaning her against my chest.

I patted her face gently. "Sophia?" I shook her but she didn't move. My heart sped up in fear.

I picked her up easily and carried her to my office. I laid her down on the sofa, unbuckled her heels, and undid the top buttons of her blouse. I grabbed a file and fanned her for a few minutes. Then, I rushed to my desk and called Patricia with the intercom.
