"Of course. What else would I have to say?"

The waiter returned with our food and true to his words, Alexander loved it.

I sipped my margarita. "We should talk about something."

"What do you want to talk about?"

"You. We could play twenty questions.”

"Okay."

"I'll start. Do you have any hobbies?"

"Not a lot. Like I said before, I don't have a lot of free time, but I do love reading. I always find time to read. When I was a kid, I used to spend hours doing just that."

"Favorite genre?"

"Isn't it my turn?" He hummed. "Fantasy, definitely. I enjoy the world-building and the characters. My turn. What was your first job?"

"Waitress at a diner when I was sixteen. It smelled like cigarettes, and I once saw a possum running around the back room, but it was still nice. Kind of cozy. It had the best cheesecake I've ever tasted. What is your favorite memory?"

He looked at the ceiling in thought. "When I was twelve, my mom took me to the amusement park. We spent the whole day going on different rides." His expression turned wistful. "I laughed so hard that my smoothie snorted out of my nose. It was the best thing in the world."

"I'm sorry about her. What happened?"

"She passed away in her sleep when I was fourteen." I reached across the table and covered his hand with my own. "Let's go back to the game. My turn. What other jobs have you had?"

"What jobs have I not had? I've been a babysitter, a dog walker, and a tutor. I once worked in a library. I like meeting new people, so I enjoy working different kinds of jobs. Can you cook?"

He shrugged. "I consider myself a decent chef."

"I'll be the judge of that one of these days."

He grinned at me. "I look forward to cooking for you. Pet peeves?"

"People who talk loudly on the phone," I answered immediately.

"You didn't have to think about that one at all."

"It's literally the most annoying thing in the world."

"Clearly you've never had to deal with loud chewers."

"People who talk loudly aren't that bad."

"Yes, they are."

"I can handle loud chewing. I can't handle someone loudly discussing their bowel movement beside me."

"Oh really?" He took a bite of his food and made exaggerated noises as he ate. "You don't think this is annoying?" He ate more and increased his volume. "You don't think is completely obnoxious?"

I chuckled and then pressed my hand to my ear. "Yeah, I go to the bathroom about four times a day. Oh, what does it look like? Well, it kind of resembles -"

"Okay stop. There is no way that happened."

"I can describe it for you, in perfect detail."

He chuckled. "We're in the middle of dinner. Why would you bring that up?"
