I want to wake up every day knowing that this man has my back. That he loves me enough to fight for me, even when the cards are stacked against me.

He pulls back slightly, looking down into my eyes. We just stand there staring at one another for what feels like forever until he reaches up and brushes my cheeks dry.

“I told you I’d come home to you,” he says softly, and I chuckle, the laughter bubbling up from deep within me.

When it finally trails off, I smile up at him.

“As long as you always keep that promise, everything will be okay.”

He leans in, pressing his lips to mine sweetly.

“It’ll be better than okay, as long as I always have you to come home to.”

“Always.”

Everything feels too good to be true.

When we finally get back inside of the house, Milo presents me with a black canvas backpack.

“What is this?” I ask.

Bodhi and Milo share a look that has me feeling a little more than suspicious. They’re clearly up to something, and I don’t know if I’m ready for any more surprises.

“Just open it,” Milo says, looking like a kid on Christmas morning.

I have no idea what they’re up to, but I’m in too good a mood to question it. Really, this day is on such a positive note, I don’t think there is much that can affect it.

But then I unzip the backpack and look inside.

“What is this?” I ask, whipping my head up to see both Bodhi and Milo smiling proudly.

“It’s yours,” Bodhi says, Milo nodding in agreement.

“No, really, stop fucking around. Where did you get this?” I ask in complete stupefaction.

Inside are several banded rolls of cash. And I do mean several. Like an absurd amount.

Reaching in, I pull out one roll and look in over. There’s easily two grand in this roll alone.

“Guys… this… there’s got to be like…”

“Just over one hundred and thirty grand,” Milo says.

I’m speechless. At a complete loss for words. This is the most money I have ever seen in person in my entire life. And it’s sitting in my lap.

I’m about to pinch myself, because this can’t be fucking real.

“But… how?”

“Well, I won, so that was worth fifty grand,” Bodhi says.

“And I made as many side bets as I could, and that brought in the other eighty,” Milo finishes.

I peer back inside the bag, just staring at the pile of bills. I don’t really know how to cope with this amount of generosity. It’s all way too much, and for them to just hand it over like that is insane.

“I can’t take this,” I say, shaking my head.

“Well, it’s yours, so you kind of have to,” Milo says, leaning back in his chair and kicking out his feet and crossing them at the ankles.
