"Look at you, still believing she's coming back after she left you and your world behind. It must sting knowing she chose this simple life over your luxurious penthouse."

His face contorted in anger. "She left because she's scared. Scared of commitment, of truly letting someone in. You'll see it too, once the initial passion fades. You think she's opened up to you? Wait till she starts shutting you out."

That hurt. Mostly because deep down, there was a fear that Paisley might still harbor feelings for Benjamin. I needed to know more, so I pressed. "Why did she leave, Benjamin? Give me the real reason."

He downed the last of his drink, his gaze distant. "She said she felt trapped. That she couldn't breathe. That the city, our life, our engagement, it was all suffocating her. She needed space, time to think. So, I let her go, hoping she'd find her way back to me."

There it was. The vulnerability I needed to see. But instead of feeling triumphant, I felt a pang of sympathy for him. "You love her, don't you?" It wasn't a taunt, but a genuine question.

His eyes met mine, raw with emotion. "More than you can imagine. She was my everything. And then she was gone."

We sat in silence for a moment, the weight of his confession hanging in the air. Despite my animosity towards him, I couldn't help but empathize. I was falling for Paisley, and the thought of losing her was agonizing.

But just as quickly as the vulnerable Benjamin appeared, he was gone, replaced by the smug, confident man from before. "You might have her now, but remember, she was mine first. And I intend to win her back."

I clenched my fists, ready to put him in his place. But before I could, a familiar, intoxicating scent hit me, making my heart race.

"Is everything okay here?" Paisley's voice was soft yet firm as she approached, her eyes darting between me and Benjamin.

"Everything's fine," I replied, my voice surprisingly steady.

Benjamin gave a curt nod. "I should be going." Without another word, he left.

The tension between Paisley and me was palpable. But it wasn't anger or frustration. It was pure, unadulterated sexual tension. We were drawn to each other like magnets.

Without thinking, I reached out and pulled her into me. Our lips met, and the world faded away. It was just us, lost in each other.

As we pulled away, gasping for breath, I whispered, "You have no idea how much I've missed you."

Paisley smiled, her eyes shimmering with mischief. "Oh, I have a pretty good idea."

The walk to Paisley's cottage seemed to drag on forever, even though it was only a few blocks from the bar. Every step felt like an eternity, the burning desire between us evident in each stolen glance and brushed fingertip. The night air was thick with tension, a palpable energy that threatened to consume us.

"You alright?" Paisley asked, her voice quivering with a mix of uncertainty and excitement.

"Yeah," I replied, my throat dry. "Just... thinking."

She smirked, stopping in her tracks to face me. "About what?"

"About how I'm going to show you just how much you mean to me," I growled, pulling her close, our lips inches apart. Her eyes widened in surprise and anticipation, but she didn't pull away. Instead, she closed the gap, crashing her lips onto mine.

The kiss was wild, passionate, a clash of tongues and teeth. It was a dance of dominance and submission, a battle for control. And yet, there was an underlying tenderness, a sweetness that spoke of deeper emotions.

We broke apart, gasping for air. "Fuck, Austin," she whispered, her eyes dark with lust. "What are you doing to me?"

"What you're doing to me," I replied, my voice husky. "Every day, every moment, all I can think about is you. How you feel, how you taste. How I never want to let you go."

She bit her lip, a teasing glint in her eye. "Well, we're almost at my cottage. Why don't you show me just how much I mean to you?"

I didn't need any further encouragement. I scooped her up in my arms, carrying her the rest of the way to her front door. She giggled, wrapping her legs around my waist, her arms around my neck. The weight of her, the feel of her body pressed against mine, drove me wild.

We fumbled with the keys, the urgency of our need making even the simplest task a challenge. But finally, the door swung open, and we stumbled inside.

The cottage was dimly lit, the soft glow of the candles casting flickering shadows on the walls. The scent of lavender filled the air, adding to the heady atmosphere. I didn't bother with the lights, too focused on the woman in my arms.

I carried her to the bedroom, laying her down on the soft bed. I hovered above her, my eyes drinking her in. She looked up at me, her eyes filled with love and desire. "Austin," she whispered, her voice trembling. "Please."

She didn’t need to say anything else. I claimed her lips with mine, our bodies moving in sync.
