“I love you, Lucy,” I wink, referencing the jams Lucy Ricardo used to get into on the I Love Lucy Show. They always required her husband, Ricky, to come to her rescue.

I kiss her chastely at first, but then a fire is lit within me. I could ditch all this and take her to bed right now.

“I want to have my way with you here and now,” I whisper.

“Just don’t crash the boat,” she giggles.

“Oh yeah,” I panic and retake the wheel.

Randomly, I whip around to check my surroundings. I feel like someone is on the dock waiting for my attention.

“What’s the matter?” she asks, digging into her cobbler.

“Paranoia?” I half-kid.

“Here, try this,” she says, aiming her fork at me.

I don’t want to be a ninny and tell her I don’t do sugar. But for her, I bite my tongue and open my mouth. It is delicious.

“Okay,” I say after I chase it with coffee. “That’s off the hook.”

“They’re closing,” she says quietly.

She pushes the breakfast pastry aside after barely tasting any. Todd told me she scarfed this stuff.

“Done,” she says somberly.

“Well, we’ll just have to find another place to make this,” I say chipperly. “You want me to box that up?”

“No,” she says politely. “Unfortunately, they are one of a kind. Friends of mine. They’re in Dove Point Square. But they’re closing up shop and moving to Galveston.

Now, things might be different if I had a business that drew people in, say, an inn, for example. But a potential office park is doing nothing but causing people to leave their homes and businesses.”

“Baby, no one forced them,” I say with a touch of defense. “Red Hawk Realty paid them, and if things were so great for everyone, why did they accept the offers? In fact, maybe I helped make their lives better.”

She kisses me and effectively changes the subject. This may be an area that we agree to disagree if only to keep the peace. I take us out a quarter mile offshore before I drop anchor.

“Bathing suit time,” Brynne whispers.

She goes below and comes out in a barely there, two-piece suit that would knock my socks off if I wore any. This time, when I feel like we’re being watched again, I know I’m not imagining it. The crew from an adjacent vessel shamelessly stares. I glare at them, and they disperse, moving their boat away more to open seas.

“Isn’t this better?” she flirts.

“I’m liking it,” I say, the vision of her going straight to my cock.

She sits on my lap and lifts the lid off my plate.

“We have eggs and turkey,” she says, loading up a fork to feed me.

I accept it, but I know it is the last bit of breakfast I will have this morning.

“You gotta know,” I say helplessly.

She reaches beneath her hips and feels me.

“Know what?” she asks wickedly.

With our mouths fused, I grab a cotton throw folded neatly on the cushion next to me and wrap it around Brynne’s hips. I lift myself just enough so she can slide my shorts down. We are being casual and slow so that we are just making out to anyone looking on.
