Smiling, loving that idea mostly because it meant I’d be able to talk to him, I opened my door and went inside.

It was Friday, and it was one of my favorite days of the week. Because it meant that not only did I have off tomorrow, but it also meant I’d have about five minutes before a knock would come at my door with my flower delivery.

Yes, Griffin continued to send me fresh flowers every week.

And every week, they still made me smile.

I kicked off my shoes, tossed my bag down on the couch, and moved toward the kitchen. On my way there, I was forced to stop, because something caught my eye.

For several long moments, my body was rigid, frozen to the spot. Were my eyes deceiving me?

My vase.

My vase was there, in the spot it always was, but something was missing.

The flowers Griffin had sent to me last week were gone.

As crazy as that was, I was even more surprised to find a bouquet of fresh flowers in their place.

They were lovely.

But I didn’t understand how they’d gotten there when they weren’t there this morning.

That’s when I heard a sound coming from my side. My head snapped in that direction, and in an instant, waves of shock moved through me.

I gasped, my hands flying up to cover my mouth as tears filled my eyes, and I started to back away.

“No, no, no,” I rasped.

I continued to back away, knowing I was eventually going to run into the wall. At some point, I stopped and stared, one question after another popping into my head, but refusing to escape past my lips.

It took me a minute to pull myself together, but once I did, I didn’t waste another second. I took off running in the opposite direction and launched myself into Griffin’s arms. He caught me and immediately wrapped his arms around me to pull me close.

“What are you doing here?” I cried, unable to stop the tears from falling. “How did you get in?”

“I missed you and wanted to personally deliver your flowers this week.”

That was it.

That was his response.

He missed me and wanted to personally deliver my flowers this week.

I loosened my hold on him slightly, keeping my body pressed firmly against his while I pulled my face back to look at his. “Are you really here?”

He smiled at me and nodded. “I’m really here.”

Unable to help myself, I captured his face in my hands and planted a kiss on his lips. When I pulled back to look at him again, to make sure that he was really there in front of me, he decided he was done with my disbelief.

Griffin drove one hand into my hair at the side of my head, allowed it to slide back to cup me at the back of my head, and urged my mouth toward his again. Then he kissed me, giving me more than just a peck like I’d given him.

I didn’t fight him.

I succumbed.

I melted completely, offering myself up and allowing Griffin to take what he wanted.

He could have it all. Everything.
