I groaned. I had a feeling someone was going to come and ask me to move the camper at some point, so they’d be able to start clearing more snow out of the lot.

I moved to the door, opened it up, and found I was wrong.

“Oh, God,” Indy gasped after taking one look at me. She immediately looked away and covered her eyes. “I’m so sorry. I didn’t know you were naked.”

I looked down at my body, my lips twitching, and noted, “I’m not naked. I’m only half naked.”

Truth be told, the bottoms I had on fit the same as leggings would fit a woman, so they were snug on my legs, and they accentuated areas that might have made Indy uncomfortable.

She was bent over somewhat, her hand still covering her eyes, and her body turned slightly away from me. But then she dropped her wrist just enough to allow one of her eyes to look at me again. That eye focused on my chest, moved down my abdomen, and landed on the bulge in the front of my pants. In a flash, she lifted her wrist again and covered her eye.

I wanted to stand there and continue to watch the reaction she was having to seeing me like this—it was a huge boost to my ego—but I was curious as to what brought her here to begin with. So, I asked, “Are you okay?”

Indy took in a deep breath, stood up straight, and dropped her hand from her eyes. With her body still facing away from mine, she said, “I really didn’t mean to interrupt you. I can just come back… you know what? It doesn’t matter.”

She turned again and took two steps in the opposite direction when I called, “Indy?”

Her body came to a halt, but she didn’t do anything else.

“Look at me,” I urged her.

Slowly, she turned on her heels, but she kept her eyes pointed at the ground.

“Eyes up here, sugar.”

Indy’s body tensed slightly, but she lifted her gaze to mine. Her cheeks were flushed, and she looked completely horrified.

“Is everything okay?”

“I’m so sorry to disturb you,” she apologized again.

“You’re not bothering me at all. What’s going on?” I pressed.

She licked her lips, slightly unsure of herself. “Well, I was… you said you had a shovel I could borrow, and I was wondering if perhaps that offer still stands.”

Smiling at her, I said, “Sure. Come on inside.”

“What?”

“I need to put some clothes back on, because the shovel is in the back. And I don’t want you to stand out there in the cold while I do that,” I explained.

Her eyes shifted toward the back of the camper, and she grew even more flustered. “Oh, it’s okay. Don’t worry about it. Just forget I even knocked on your door.”

I cocked an eyebrow. “You can’t honestly believe that’s going to happen. Come inside, sugar.”

She swallowed hard and remained rooted to the spot.

“I’ve only got so much propane in the tanks to heat this thing, so the longer the door stays open, the more heat I lose,” I revealed.

Keeping the door open for these few minutes wouldn’t put a dent in the propane usage, but making Indy believe that was the case had precisely the effect I intended it to, because she moved.

As she climbed the two stairs to come inside the camper, I continued to hold the door open. Being a gentleman happened to pay off, because once Indy stepped inside the coach, we were mere inches apart.

After noting the way her lips parted when we were practically chest to chest, I pulled the doors closed.

“Sorry,” she murmured.

“You’re fine,” I insisted. “Just give me a second to throw my gear back on.”
