He winked at me and silently urged me to spend time with my cousin. But I know I only need to say his name to have him at my side.
“I would like that, Serenity. I would like that a lot. I promise you will have a friend in me forever and always.”
“And I promise the same. I can't wait for you and Drake to meet my husband. Maxim is as possessive and territorial as your man.”
She shot a side eye toward the bench where Drake sat and where I fell in love just a short few months ago.
“Yeah, Drake has a tendency to get protective.”
“He loves you.”
I held Drake’s gaze when I said, “And I love him more than life.”
I led Serenity into the house and up to the nursery where our infant daughter took her second nap of the morning. I told my cousin all about our plans of expanding our home to fit our growing family and she shared all the details of her life on a private island.
Drake came in and settled on the floor at my feet, his arm draped over my lap. We sat there for hours talking as club members came and went. We all shared stories like a real family.Myfamily.
I don’t know how I came to be bred by a villain, but I wouldn’t change anything about my life. Not even my time on the streets or the harsh treatment from my parents. They still want nothing to do with me, which is okay. I found my happiness and a family that wants me for who I am. Happy New Year to me and everyone out there trying to find your happiness. It’s possible, you just have to open your heart and let love in.
