“We’ll consider it a team effort, Elemental.”

Blair clutched Kaien closer, retreating into the warmth of the compound where they’d originally gathered. Joyous voices abounded around them, delighting her ears and bringing a smile to her face.

While they might not have been in Solaris, Blair knew that she was home in Kaien’s arms. Forever.

Epilogue

OneMonthLater

Blair was livid. Who did he think he was, this Raeth male who thought he knew what was best? It’d been a little over a month since they’d mated, and he still had the audacity to not ask her the simple question.

Eyes narrowing, the vampire stalked through their home, rage trailing in her wake. Her fists clenched and her fingernails bit into her palm. Enough was enough, and she could no longer stand it.

She found Kaien lounging in his newly appointed mancave, clearly doing something trivial, and demanded his attention immediately with a snap of her fingers.

“Who do you think you are, lumberjack?”

One sandy-colored eyebrow shot up at her, the male barely concealing the slight upward tilt of his lips at her inbound rage. “Your mate?”

“And?”

Kaien balked while he tried to identify the source of her vehemence. “A … Raeth?”

Fire ignited in Blair’s eyes. “And?”

“Is this a trick question?” Cocking his head to the side, he pinned her with a quizzical glare. “You seemingly need an answer of some kind … but one that I’m apparently not privy to.”

“What was I born as, Raeth?”

“A human.”

Blair ‘encouraged’ him with a cynical nod. “And what do humans do when they intend to unite for life?”

“They get married?”

“Bingo, we’ve got a winner.” The slow clap Blair gave him couldn’t have been more sarcastic. “I’ll expect a ring by end of today, Raeth. Better get on it.”

Kaien’s mouth had dropped open. “You … you want a wedding? A ring? All of it?”

“Give the lumberjack a cookie,” she proclaimed, fisting her hands on her hips. “Call it what you will, but we’ll be having a wedding, Kaien. I intend to wear a white dress.”

Her mate only blinked at her.

“I’m going dress shopping with your sister. I better see you on your knees with a big rock in hand when I get back, Kaien, or I’ll never sample your delectable blood again.”

Considering how much she knew he enjoyed being under her fangs, she’d hit the nail on the head with her mock threat. Of course, she’d never willingly relinquish that intimacy, but that didn’t mean she couldn’t tease him.

Paling at the prospect, Kaien lost all joviality. “Your wish is my command, kitten.”

When he proceeded to vanish into thin air only moments later, Blair grew smug, knowing he was taking her demand seriously.Good. She’d never been more serious in her life.

Thirty minutes later, she’d dutifully informed Nina that she was to be her Maid of Honor, with Celeste and Reyna rounding out her trio of bridesmaids. They had all been overjoyed, and immediately agreed that dress shopping was in order.

Reyna, though several centuries younger than Blair, was another one of Nina’s fledglings. While she hadn’t been able to attend the impromptu dress shopping on such short notice, Reyna had gleefully accepted her honorary position among Blair’s bridesmaids.

With a hint of suggestion, they’d secured a timeslot at the top bridal shoppe in New York, all three of them sipping on champagne while Blair tried on a store’s-worth of dresses.

Of course, with her frame, there wasn’t a single gown that didn’t look stunning on the vampire. However, when she walked out in a fitted mermaid-style tastefully tinged black at the bottom, jaws dropped.
