Page 6 of Snow Me A Favor

“It was on the invitation,” I tell him, turning as a breeze flows through the open lobby doors. I have no idea what Star looks like other than the naughty pictures she sent me. I’m fairly certain she’s not showing up naked.

“I look forward to meeting her,” Dad says with a meaningful look. I give him a clipped nod before diverting my attention to the front doors once again, and check my phone to see if she’s called or messaged. Not seeing anything, I check my watch again. The driver said she was a little more than an hour away. With the snowstorm, I know it’s going to take longer.

My impatience is getting the best of me. I’ve been dying to meet this woman for weeks and now that the evening is upon us, I need her here now.

The idea to call the driver flicks through my mind but I dismiss it quickly. I’d rather not distract the man from the road while he’s got my woman in the back seat. I won’t be the one responsible for something happening to her.

“Sir, a drink?” A waiter from the ballroom comes over with a tray filled with flutes of champagne.

“Thank you, no, I’m waiting for my date.” With a quick nod, the man is gone again.

Reading through our messages again, I love the small glimpses I get into her personality and life. We haven’t shared deeply personal things yet but I feel like I’ve got a good grasp on her hopes and dreams. I like the woman I’m learning about and I know without doubt she could be a woman I can love.

Another blistering breeze followed by snow as a couple comes rushing in past the bellman muttering about how inconvenient a snowstorm in the middle of winter in New York is. It’s like they’re new here or something.

Distracted by the alert on my phone, I don’t notice someone walking up to me until it’s too late. “Leon, it’s so good to see you.” Rachael Nayer, my father’s accountant, and a woman I took on a date one time six months ago, slides into my body, wrapping her arms around my neck. “I’m so glad you came, I was hoping to run into you tonight.” When she lifts up to kiss me, I settle my hands on her hips to hold her away from me.

“Rachael.” My tone isn’t welcoming but she doesn’t take the hint. Leaning in again, I step back, nearly tripping over a table as I do. “I think we’ve had all the interaction we need to.” Trying to disentangle myself from her, my attention is stolen as a beautiful vision in red enters the lobby, snow dusting her shoulders and hair as the doorman greets her.

The lovely smile on her lips as she talks to the man distracts me enough that I forget about Rachael and she moves in. Planting her lips against mine in an unwanted advance and before I can push her off, Star’s eyes find mine. They widen before dropping to the ground. While she doesn’t know what I look like, if she feels half of what I do when I saw her, then she knows it’s me.

“Goddammit Rachael, I told you no.” Setting her away from me, I ignore the glare she sends my way before I approach my future wife.

“Star?” I know in my gut it’s her.

Our eyes meet and I see hers swimming in tears as she debates whether to leave or not. “Yes, you’re Leon?” I hate that I hurt her already.

“I’m sorry about that, I was trying to turn her down nicely but then you entered and I think my brain short circuited.” Her lips quirk up at the side a little. Helping her out of her long coat, I tell her, “I feel like I’ve been waiting forever for you. Was the drive okay?”

Handing her coat to the clerk, my jaw nearly hits the floor when I see her dress completely. It’s a beautiful piece of silk that flows across her body like a damn temple to be worshipped. The top hooks around her neck, leaving her back and arms bare, plunging to her belly button and showing off the swell of her breasts. The skirt is long, flowy, and in layers with large slits on the front of both legs, showing off her creamy skin that I’d like nothing more than to lick from toe to hip.

“Wow,” I manage to muster. “You are stunning.”

“Yeah?” She seems self-conscious about the amount of flesh she’s showing.

“Almost too beautiful to show off.” Brushing a finger across my lip, wiping away drool I’m sure, my eyes get hooked on the sky-high heels on her feet. All I can picture is her in those and nothing else as I take her from behind.

“Feels like all of Lydia’s work would be a waste then, doesn’t it?” I can hardly concentrate as she spins in a slow circle, showing me the entire dress.

“Lydia,” I mutter, wondering if I can fire her still.

“She was very kind, but pushy about this dress. I gave in because I love the way it feels on my skin.” Her innocent explanation only confirms what I was already thinking.

My girl is a virgin.

And she is mine, all mine.

Offering her an arm, I smile as I ask, “Shall we?” Biting her lip, Star looks at the ballroom doors hesitantly before giving me a slight nod.

CHAPTER5

Star

THE BALLROOM

When I was in middle school, I used to have severe anxiety. My counselor taught me some breathing techniques that really helped. Once I was finished school, I never needed to use them again. College was great and I felt like I truly fit in, but I never needed the coping mechanism in adulthood.

Until tonight.
