His eyes are pure black as they clash with mine, holding locked until he starts groaning painfully. When I feel the wet splash of his release across my sex and lower belly, I tear my gaze away so I can watch as Dez lets go of his control to the pleasure of his body.

His manhood is red and swollen and still leaking when he releases it to rub his seed into my skin with his hand. After circling it on my stomach, he moves down between my legs, slowly spreading the fluid between the folds of my body before scooping up more and pushing it into my entrance.

“Dez?” Surely, he knows what could happen.

His eyes slash to mine, ignoring my protest as he continues to slip his semen into my body, rubbing it into my walls. A smirk lifts the corner of one side of his mouth. “I know, malen’ka ptashka.”

It’s not until he’s breathing heavily over me that it occurs to me how warped we are. How disgusted the outside world would be if they were ever to discover the way he tasted my blood. The way I came apart from him piercing my flesh.

We’re wrong.

But we’re oh so right, too.

ELEVEN

DEZ

“So”—Vasyl walks up next to me on the sidewalk outside Liliya’s school—“you’re letting her continue with school here?”

My brows draw together at the phrasing of his question. “Why wouldn’t I?”

“I don’t know, kid.” His casual shrug is anything but. There’s meaning there, and he expects me to figure it out.

“Her friends aren’t her friends,” I say. Nadia has me in the habit of working things out aloud rather than in my head. “Thatboywas all over her yesterday.” Rage reignites my blood as I think about the way he was so fucking comfortable touching her. “I want tokillhim for even thinking about her.”

“Don’t we all,” Vas mutters with a chuckle. “What else, Dez?” This is said more quietly.

Closing my eyes, I rub my temples and focus. “Her father.” The biggest threat of all. “I’ll take him out, too.” I’m making lists in my head of all the people I need to irradicate to keep my woman safe. She’ll be my wife, and there is nothing I won’t do to make sure she has the best life possible.

“So, what are you going to do about it?” My gaze shifts to the man who saved my life, adopted me, and gave me a family that I never dreamed would accept me.

It’s because of him I found my Liliya.

“I’m going to kill. Them. All,” I grit out.

“Can’t kill everyone, son.” His heavy hand lands on my shoulder.

“Says who?” I snap, not liking being told I can’t do something I want.

“Seven billion people.” I’d like to swipe the chuckle off his lips.

The school bell rings, distracting me from my desire to coldcock the only decent father I’ve ever known. “I never finished school.” Never felt the need to once I left home. Never felt like I was missing out on anything by ignoring my education.

“You still could.” His off-handed comment as kids begin rushing out the front doors makes me think about it.

For about a second.

“I don’t care about that.” I was never any good in school, anyway. “What if she wants more than I can give her?” I never asked about what she wanted, I just made the decision.

I can feel Vasyl’s eyes on me, studying me like a bug under a microscope as I search the sea of faces for the one that matters most. “Can you love her, Dez?” My heart skips a beat at his question because it’s something I’ve wondered myself.

When I notice the girls Liliya was with on the day I approached her, come laughing out of the school, pointing back through the doors, my gut curdles. “I’ll slit their throats,” I hiss as I step forward before Vasyl can stop me.

From the vicious looks on their faces to the catty laughter, I just know they’ve done something to my bride-to-be, and I won’t let it stand. Age means nothing to me, same with gender. They’re old enough to understand cruelty and suffering, so I’m going to give it to them. Teach them what it truly means to agonize over someone else’s choice to cause them harm.

Slamming the bitchy one up against the wall with my arm at her throat, I snarl in her face, “What the fuck did you do?” She pales and struggles in my hold as everyone around us freezes.

“Dez, not the place for this,” Vasyl cautions from behind me, but the anger won’t listen to a word he’s saying. All I see is Liliya in tears somewhere.
