“Yeah. My mother and siblingsforcedme onto a plane. Said I should come home to my young man.”

Gavin blushed and shook his head. “Your young man is glad you’re home.”

“But you’re busy, so you should get back to it. May I kidnap Bronte?”

Nodding, Gavin laughed. “She wouldloveit. She’s been talking non-stop about how you’re her favorite celebrity.”

Now it was Ginny’s turn to blush. “I’m hardly a celebrity. I’ll see you at home tonight, okay?”

“Home, yeah. Fuck, Nia, I’m so glad to see you.” Gavin pulled her into him, their mouths crashing in a kiss and she moaned softly. Her fingers tunneled through his hair as his hands dropped to cup and squeeze her ass. “You look good enough to eat,” he mumbled into the kiss, pressing against her.

“You’re the worst,” she told him and gently pushed Gavin away. “Finish work, I’ll see you later.”

“Don’t have too much fun,” Gavin said, his eyes running down her body. She knew that wearing those salmon pink shorts and the white blouse with the deep front would distract him. She just didn’t expect to be leaving him behind in the office when she went out, though.

“Love you, Little Rhodes.”

“I love you more, Nia.”

She blew him a kiss, laughed as he caught it and pressed it over his crotch, and then went to find Bronte. Which wasn’t that hard, since Ginny could hear the blonde rapping along with Megan Thee Stallion. Walking through the door to the Cages, Ginny smirked when she saw Bronte dancing as she cleaned, headphones on and making her totally unaware of how loud she was. It took Bronte the entirety of a song to realize she had an audience and when she glanced over her shoulder, a squeak escaped her lips.

“Fantastic performance.”

“Fucking hell, why would you do that?”

Ginny chuckled. “I think anyway I played this, I would have scared you. I’m here to break you out.”

“My savior!” Bronte gasped, back of a hand pressed to her forehead, and did a terrible impression of a swoon before straightening up. “Where are we going?”

“I was thinking The Sidecar, unless you’ve got another idea?”

“I most certainly do. Gimme five.” Bronte gathered all the cleaning supplies and hurried out of the room. Ginny followed and let the volunteer at the front desk know that she was waiting outside. Less than five minutes later, Bronte slid into Ginny’s car and rubbed her hands together. “Spencer introduced me to this place and it isto die for.”

Ginny laughed, but made a note to ask Bronte about the whole ‘Spencer thing’, and followed the blonde’s instructions. Fifteen minutes later, she parked her car a few feet away from a yellow and orange food truck. She trusted Spencer’s food choices, but still Ginny was nervous about where Bronte had brought her. As they walked over, she finally saw the name of the truck—The Patty Melt.

“Patty makes the best grilled cheeses I’ve ever eaten and she gets really creative with her menu too,” Bronte told her as they walked up to the service window. An older woman leaned out and beamed at Ginny’s companion. “Hey Patty. This is Ginny, she’s a badass influencer and event planner.Andshe made the strange choice of dating Gavin Rhodes.”

Patty laughed and stuck her hand out to Ginny. “Good to meet you, Ginny. Any friend of Bronte’s is a friend of mine. Do you ladies know what you want?”

Ginny perused the menu and shook her head. “How about you surprise me, Patty? Bronte says that you make the best grilled cheese ever, so you can’t go wrong.”

“Girl after my own heart. I’ll make you the best damn grilled cheese ever. Blondie?”

Bronte stared at the menu and then shrugged. “I’m going tofinallytry the Bacon Apple Cheddar.”

Patty nodded and stepped away, leaving Ginny confused. “Bacon, apple and cheddar? That sounds weird.”

“Right? Every food blogger that’s come here swears by it and Patty’s been trying to get me to order one for years. I’m feeling adventurous tonight.”

Chuckling, Ginny walked over to a bench and sat down. “Guess we both are.” Bronte sat down across from her, smile still so bright. “One another note, how are you holding up?”

“After we dropped the horses off? I’m okay. It was the right thing to do. The ranch owner’s son said I can visit whenever I want, so I might take him up on that offer.”

Oh no, new dude alert.Ginny resisted the urge to ask about Spencer, but his name was on the tip of her tongue. “Were there cowboys?”

Bronte giggled and shook her head. “I was really hoping for cowboys, but it’s not that kind of ranch. Maybe more of a farm. The horses are going to be used for light labor, they said. I did warn them that I might have spoiled the horses a bit, so they’d be lazy. Oscar, that’s the owner’s son, said lazy horses were also welcome. So I guess they’ll be fine.”

“That’s amazing. I’m glad that it all worked out.”
