I couldn’t help chuckling at that image, but I walked around the desk to give him a hug. “In this town, that can be seen as an emergency. How about you just give me a call or text me and say you’ve got a mob of nosy neighbors?”

Now it was his turn to chuckle, and he leaned against me and nuzzled against my torso, clearly looking for another snuggle. “Yes, that sounds much more reasonable for this town.”

Yeah, we were special.

“But they were trying to claim you and protect you.” That was good, if fucking nuts. “So they like you.”

He giggled, closing his eyes. “Your friends came over last night, oh, and did you know the mages were trying to claim me? Yes, you just said that. I’m sorry. This place is just so funny.”

I snorted. “You belong to the dragons and that’s a hill I’ll die on.”

Stefan let out another laugh. “Kenzie feels the same way.”

“Because he knows you belong to me.” That made Stefan blush and he was so cute I couldn’t resist leaning over and kissing his head. “But we won’t worry about the mages claiming you anymore, so how about lunch.”

Holding up the new lunch box I’d bought online and had overnighted, I ran my hand over his back. “Delivery as promised.”

He let out another giggle, loving his present even if it was only lunch. “What did you bring me?”

Scoffing, I held it just out of reach. “I can’t tell you that. It’s a surprise.”

As he wiggled, it seemed like the stress of the nosy mob had faded in the face of a present. “I’m ready to open my present, Daddy.”

He even gave it gimme fingers.

“Then let’s go to your office and sit down.” Kissing his head again, I stepped back and took his hand. “We’ll have lunch, and then when you’ve finished up here, we can go home and I’ll read you a book. How does that sound?”

He nodded as he rose, squeezing my hand. “Yes, that sounds good.”

But as we started walking toward his office, he cocked his head. “I think I just told the whole town I’m little. Oh, and that we’re dating. But the you taking care of me thing was probably pretty clear to most of them.”

I’d have put that the other way around, but it was correct, so I nodded. “Yes, you did. How do you feel about that?”

He didn’t answer my question. “How doyoufeel, Daddy?”

“Like now you’re really mine because everyone knows it?” My honesty got a giggle from him. “My dragon side likes that everyone knows you belong to me.”

Stefan was still smiling as he inched closer and rested his head on my shoulder. “We had a tea party last night.”

“I heard.” I kissed his head before leading him into his office, loving the small pile of pillows that were now decorating the floor of our cuddling spot. “I also wasn’t sure if I needed to apologize for them descending on you.”

That got another laugh from Stefan as we went over and sat down in the nest he’d made. “They’re funny, but it was a bit odd. They were trying to operate in thedon’t be nosyrules you seemed to have set, but it was hard for them. They really did their best, though.”

That sounded frightening, honestly.

“Just remember they’ll accept a safeword if they go too far.” I was glad when he nodded so quickly. “And don’t forget, they like you and want to be your friend too. Kenzie liked you before we ever started dating, and he’s ridiculously open about what he’s feeling.”

But that was good in some situations.

Like being able to show my little that he had friends.

“I like that.” He sounded relaxed and like he wasn’t quite as grown-up any longer. “I liked having a tea party too even if I didn’t get little. They don’t mind that, but if I’m not very careful, they’re going to help me into a heart attack talking about stuff.”

I couldn’t help chuckling because he was right. “They will. They’re frighteningly helpful sometimes.”

Stefan gave an adorable sigh. “Everyone around here is.”

“They are, but we don’t have to worry about that now. We’ve got a Lunchable to enjoy and I might even have a treat for my cute lunch date.”
