Colt cupped my cheek. “It’s going to be all right, Macy.”

I relaxed.

“But I will do whatever it takes to stop Warner.”

I tensed again. I’d been alone for years since my mom died. I was used to depending on myself. I wasn’t used to trusting someone else, having someone put themself out there for me.

“You’ll be careful,” I ordered.

Colt just stared at me. “Whatever it takes.”

COLT

As I walked into Hard Burn, I strode straight past the boxing rings and the people training in them.

I saw a small crowd watching the main ring and headed that way.

I’d left Macy, Daisy, and Lola making cookies in the kitchen. Macy and Daisy had been giggling, heads together.

My girls having fun. I scowled and almost missed a step. I meant my girl and Macy having fun.

My hands flexed. Last night, having her laid out for me, and my mouth on her pussy…

My cock throbbed and I cursed.

It couldn’t happen. I needed to keep my eye on the prize—keeping Macy safe, not on how many orgasms I could wring out of her. She was such a responsive little thing, greedy.

Fucking hell. I couldn’t risk failing her. Shaking my head, I looked at the boxing ring and focused on Beau and Kav who were sparring.

Beau was big and solid. He was shirtless, his tattoos and rock-hard chest and arms on display. His shaggy, black hair was damp with sweat. Beau was a bulldozer. He kept going, and never stopped until he won. He’d been the same in his teens, in the military, and in his decade as a mercenary.

Anyone would hesitate to go up against him.

Except Kavner.

Kav was tall and lean. He had a long, elegant body to go with his good looks. But the gloss covered grit. I knew how Kav had grown up, what he’d endured in the hellish crucible of his childhood.

And no one became a billionaire without smarts, hard work, and determination.

Kav was also shirtless, his skin more golden than Beau’s. They were both slicked with perspiration.

Beau charged, and Kav dodged his punches. They traded blows, grunts filling the air. Beau was more powerful, but Kav was faster. And he used it to his advantage.

He whirled around Beau, and landed a hard punch to Beau’s lower back. With a growl, Beau shifted, feinted, then landed a heavy uppercut to Kav’s gut.

With a curse, Kav hit the ropes. But he knew how to take a hit. His tailored suits hadn’t changed that. He slid sideways and went at Beau again.

I moved to the ropes. “Beau, I need a minute.”

“Let me finish wiping the floor with Kavner.”

Kav snorted. “I haven’t been anywhere near the floor, old man.”

They traded a few more punches, then pulled up.

Kav stretched his neck, then gently touched his stomach. “Damn you for hitting like a freight train.”
