About a dozen times, I’d been tempted to head over to my warehouse and jack off. But the look on her face when she’d walked out of my office had stopped me.

I’d hurt her.

I muttered a curse. I didn’t want to hurt her, but I was just being honest. I came from a rocky background, and I only had room in my life for Daisy. She was my number-one priority.

In my experience, relationships never lasted. They ran their course, or ended in violence. I growled under my breath. I wasnotthinking of my dad. The piece of scum.

I rose and walked over to the door.

Macy was at her desk. There was no smile on her face. No music playing. No origami in progress.

I’d…dimmed her light.

The desk phone rang, and she glared at it before she snatched it up.

“Colton Fury’s office.” She heaved a sigh. “Look, asshole, you keep up these crank calls, you’ll force me to take action.”

I frowned. Crank calls?

I strode over and snatched the phone out of her hand. “Who is this?”

There was silence.

But I knew the bastard was there.

“Call here again and pull this shit, and I will find you. And then you’ll regret it.” I set the phone down. “How many?”

Macy pursed her lips. She looked like she wanted to keep on ignoring me.

“How many calls like that, Macy?”

She shrugged a shoulder. “Half a dozen?”

“Just here? On the office line?”

She nodded.

“He calls again, tell me. I’ll get Reath to work his magic.”

“Sure thing, boss.”

She looked at the papers on her desk like they were very important. I craned my head and saw it was a stationery order.

I wanted to apologize, but I didn’t know how. And I hadn’t been wrong.

Reaching over, I opened her drawer and took out a sheet of her colored paper.

She watched me, but didn’t say a word.

Back in my office, I pulled out my phone and tried to ignore the fact that the paper was the same pink as Macy’s sexy bra.

Soon, I was cursing my giant fingers, peering at the instructions on my phone. I sensed Macy in the doorway. When I glanced up, she stood there with her arms crossed as she watched me.

Finally, I was done. Or as done as I’d ever be.

I held the paper out. “This is for you.”

She took the mangled paper, a groove forming on her forehead. “It’s a…horse.”
