He cuffed her again. The other way. She froze, again, open mouthed, shocked by the sting.

“Well, then I might as well have a go seeing as how everyone else has, huh? Not such a daddy’s little princess now, are we, huh?” Kavan’s hands got rougher, his body jerking with anger now.

“Well, if you think your prince charming is going to rescue you from this, you’re wrong! And I was going to be gentle and kind but fuck that, now I’m going to treat you like the filthy whore you are-”

Lena screamed. She screamed at the top of her lungs. She screamed with every cell in her being. She screamed with every hope and wish and dream she had ever had.

Kavan hit her again. A punch to the head. It hurt. But she screamed through it. She screamed for the injustice, for the powerlessness she felt. For all the women this had happened to before, for all the women that this would happen to again. For the sadness and anger that this made her feel. For the hate she felt. Lena screamed and screamed and screamed.

And then the hotel door opened.

Kavan froze. Lena sobbed.

“What the fuck is going on in here?” came a derisive voice.

Lena craned her neck to look up.

Ardian.

He had a spare key card to the room. She sobbed with relief. The ever-thorough, play-by-the-rules, annoying lap dog younger brother of their so called loyal consigliere had a spare key card to her room. He had his hand on the door handle still and peered into the room. His eyes flashed from Lena, teary and disheveled, to Kavan, panting and angry. She saw shock turn to anger.

Ardian repeated himself, louder this time. “What thefuckis going on in here?” He shoved the door shut behind him and marched into the room.

Kavan cleared his throat and backed off Lena, sucking some deeper breaths into his lungs. “She came onto me,yeghbayr-” Using the Armenian word for brother.

“I don’t believe for a second she came onto you, Kavan,” Ardian snarled, eyes darting over Lena, over Kavan, over the rumpled bed sheets.

Kavan sneered, doing up his pants. “She’s been asking for it, for months-”

“Fuck, she’s our employer’s daughter! Even if she got down on her hands and knees and begged, which I’m pretty sure did not happen here, you do not fucking give in to her! Fuck Kavan, I thought you knew better than this… it would be the ultimate betrayal.”

“Huh, talking of betrayal, little miss bride-to-be has already had a good seeing to this evening.” Kavan leered in Lena’s face. She could only cringe away.

Ardian frowned. “What do you mean?”

Kavan smiled, his face so smug and ugly, thinking he had his brother’s attention now. “I mean she was wet, she already had cum dripping down her thighs-”

“Fuck, Kavan, I really don’t want to hear it-”

“I bet that fucking cop messed her up-”

“The fucking cop is going to be her husband, and our future employer, and I really don’t give a flying fuck whose fucked Lena this evening, as long as it isn’t you!” Ardian looked murderous.

The smile was wiped off Kavan’s face as he replied, sulkily, “I’m just saying…”

“Well no more saying, no more fucking around, Kavan, I didn’t think I would have to remind you of this, but Lena, untouchable, Arpina, untouchable, while we are on the subject, Camilla, untouchable-”

Kavan snorted.

Ardian pursed his lips. “I don’t want to know anymore, I don’t want to hear anymore about this, don’t involve me in any of this, you’re fucking going back out to sit down at that table and I’m keeping you in my sights all evening-”

“You know, yeghbayr, sometimes you can be such a boring fuck-”

“Rather a boring fuck than a dead one for messing with Zakarian’s daughter the night before her wedding-” Ardian grabbed his older brother by the shoulder of his suit and manhandled him out of the room. He looked back once at Lena.

She couldn’t muster up the words, she couldn’t muster up the strength, she merely blinked back. She wanted to say thank you, she wanted to cry, she wanted to scream some more, she wanted to punch and kick and claw at Kavan until there was nothing left of him. She wanted to claw at herself, for letting this happen, for being too weak to push him off, for being too naive for letting him into her room. Her lip trembled. Ardian nodded, once, and closed the door behind him.

She was torn. Between collapsing on the bed and crying, or getting straight in the bath, in the shower, fuck, wash away the smell of that disgusting man, wash away the feel of his hands on her thighs… She shivered and in the end, she did both. She cried and cried while she climbed straight into the shower, clothes still on, and let the water wash over her. Wash away the smell and taste and touch of him. Wash away her shame and anger and guilt. She stayed while the water turned cold.
