North arrives a few minutes later, accompanied by the others. They take one look at the unconscious Aiden and exchange a knowing glance. I can see the gears turning in their heads as they begin to piece together what happened.

“He’s still breathing,” I say, gesturing towards Aiden. “But he won’t be waking up anytime soon.”

North nods.

“We need to do something with him.” I gesture towards Aiden again. “I got the impression that Candy knows him, which means he probably can’t just disappear. But I can speak to her and find out, if it helps?”

“Okay. Let’s just get him out of here for now. He can sleep off his headache in one of the rooms in the warehouse next door and Wint can deal with him once we have some answers,” North says.

Frost and Dash quickly and efficiently use the blanket I had wrapped around Candy to bundle Aiden up to take him out of the club. They’ll take him out through the basement, so that none of the staff who might still be around see what’s happening.

“Do you think it’s a coincidence?” I ask. “Double trouble in one night?”

“Both centred around our new girl?” North says, finishing my thoughts exactly with a shake of his head. “No, I don’t.”

“Who the fuck is she?” I ask.

“That’s what I’m going to find out,” Wint growls, before storming from the room.

I shoot North a significant look because Wint never loses his cool, and North shrugs in response.

“Get Candy home. Make sure she’s alright. It sounds like she’s had one hell of a night.”

“Yes, boss.”

“And Don?” he asks, stopping me in my tracks as I head for the door. “Keep your fucking dick in your boxers this time.”

“I would, boss,” I tell him with a grin. “But I’m not wearing any.”

I chuckle as the door swings shut behind me, but not before I hear North cursing up a storm.

I jog along the corridor and back out to the main bar, calling for Wint to wait up before he disappears up to the office.

“What?” he asks impatiently, the stress of the night bleeding into his tone.

“Did Candy complete her paperwork?” I ask. “She told me she doesn’t have a safeword.”

Wint pales. And that’s when I know he’s fucked up. “Shit.”

I try to remain calm, but with what North did to Candy, we could have a lawsuit on our hands. Wint doesn’t need to know that though. Not tonight.

“That’s what I thought. Listen, I think she’s planning on…exploring with Dash tomorrow, so we need her to fill that out immediately,” I say. I wonder if I can convince her to backdate it.

“Leave it with me,” he says tightly.

“I can help.”

“It’s fine.”

“You have enough on your plate after tonight. Let me do this. I’ll grab a copy of everything she needs to fill out and give it to her when I drop her home. You don’t have to do everything just because you’re the admin guy.”

Wint deflates, some of the tension leaving him as he nods. “Okay, thanks, yeah. That would be great.”

“No problem.”

I head to the back office and grab the necessary paperwork, stuffing it into my back pocket, before meeting Candy at the door to the car park.

“Ready?” I ask, eyeing her up and down. She’s barefoot, because I still have her shoes, but still in the dress from earlier.
