“Yeah. Well, you can in England at least.”

“Cool. Is there a particular flavour you like?”

“You mean scent?” I laugh. “You don’t eat it. Umm, no. I like them all. The original is best but the pineapple is pretty good too. Why?”

“I’m googling to see if they have a massage oil we can use.”

My cheeks heat as his insinuation. “Umm I’ve never had a massage,” I confess.

“What? Why?”

“I don’t like being touched by strangers as a general rule.”

The three of you are the exception. And maybe the professor too. Not that he’s touched me like the others but…I want him to. Nope. Absolutely, most definitely, amnotgoing there.

“What about getting a massage off someone who isn’t a stranger?”

“Yeah, no, that too. It kind of freaks me out. Besides who would I ask, Summer?”

Bhodi scowls.

“What? What’s wrong with Summer?”

“As much as I would usually find girl-on-girl massage hot, I don’t when it comes to her.”

“What? Why? Summer’s gorgeous.”

“Okay. If you say so.”

“She is! All the guys like her. She flirted shamelessly with Cove when we first met.”

“Yeah, and I wasn’t interested in her in the slightest. I only had eyes for you,” Cove chimes in.

“Oh.” I don’t know what to say to that, but suddenly the top of the dining table is very interesting as I fight to keep my emotions under control. Another memory sparks to life inside my glitchy brain.

“Are you giving me the tide times or not?”

“Don't you want to sign up for the club?”

“I can surf without belonging to some little club. What’re you gonna do? Stop me using the whole ocean?”

“That may be true, but if you want the tide times, you’ll have to leave your details.” He grins at me mischievously like he has some ulterior motive, but I don’t have the energy to try to figure out what that might be. I shake my head and huff at him.

“Fine,” I snap, grabbing the clipboard and pen, and scribbling down my details. Done, I thrust the clipboard back at his chest, snatch up my leaflet at long last, grab Summer’s hand and stomp away.

“Catch ya in the water, Malia-Tarni,” the guy shouts playfully as we walk away. I wish I’d left false details now. I’m meant to be smart.

“I think he likes you,” Summer says excitedly.

Why didn’t I remember that? Was Summer right? Did Cove like me right from the offset?

“Anyway, we totally need to rectify your virgin massage situation. Right now, even without sex wax.”

I cringe just at Bhodi using the terms virgin and sex, even in a completely innocent context. I’m burning with embarrassment.

“Guys, cut it out,” Reef instructs them. “Malia’s uncomfortable. Let’s eat, and then we can hit the showers and think of something to do this afternoon.”

The rest of the afternoon is a wash out. I think I must be coming down with something. I start to feel cold and tingly all over, and then my nose starts running uncontrollably. It’s not attractive at all, but I don’t even have the energy to care.
