My heart rate increases at the wicked challenge on his face. It’ssotempting. But I chicken out and slip into the water gracefully.

“Holy fucking snowballs!” I scream as the cold attacks my toes and turns my skin blue.Oh so fucking graceful, Malia.“Whose idea was this?!”

“Yours.”

“I’ve changed my mind. I want to get out.”

“You didn’t get in yet.” Bhodi laughs. “Just get your shoulders under and move around. You’ll be fine.”

“That’s a myth.”

“Scout’s honour.”

“You’re no Boy Scout.” I give him the stink eye. “I thought you said the water was lovely!”

“It is.”

“How is this lovely?” I complain loudly, throwing my arms wide.

“The view looks pretty lovely from where I’m standing,” he replies with a smirk.

I follow his line of sight down to where my nipples are clearly visible through my bikini top. Like bloody icicles. Wrapping my arms over my chest, I scowl at him. He laughs again so I splash him, but the motion makes me lose my footing and I slip.

“Malia!”

A firm hand wraps around my bicep and my head breaks the surface of the water before I even realise I’ve gone under. I come up coughing and spluttering, my teeth chattering with the cold.

Bhodi pulls me into his chest, which is surprisingly warm, and wraps his arms around me.

“Are you okay? You scared me!”

I’m taken aback by his concern, but I probably shouldn’t be when I think back to the way he flipped a couple of weeks back when that guy bumped into me coming out of the lecture hall.

“I’m okay,” I tell him, gazing up at his beautiful face. “Really,” I add when he doesn’t look convinced. “You’re nice and warm.” I snuggle closer then freeze. We’re half naked, I really shouldn’t be rubbing myself up against him in a desperate attempt to steal his body heat.

“I can think of a better way of warming you up. More fun too.” There’s definitely a flirty edge to his voice.

“Oh?” But then again, there’s one to mine too, even with that one word and the cock of my eyebrow.

“Yeah, a race.”

I don’t know what I expected him to say, but it wasn’t that.

“Last one to the other side has to do a forfeit!”

He’s dropping me and taking off before I can even compute what he’s just said. Luckily I’m able to save myself from going under by quickly treading water, but by the time I start swimming after him, he’s well ahead.

Is it even worth trying to catch him? He’s so strong and toned, his muscles rippling with every smooth stroke he makes as he front crawls his way to victory. I’m completely distracted once again by him. This time it’s not just his body, but the fluid way he becomes one with the water, gliding through it like he was born to be there.

“You lose, little dot! Did you even start?” he calls back to me.

“I was distracted.”

“By the view?” he teases, wiggling his eyebrows at me. I laugh.

“By almost drowning,” I call back, faking a cough. “I think I swallowed some water.”

“I could give you mouth to mouth if you need it.”
