“Of course. Close the door please.” I shift in my chair because even though my plan was to avoid her, I can’t help the way my body reacts when I finally get to see her, and I’ve been thinking about her nonstop since she left my house yesterday.

She looks stunning in her outfit today. She’s wearing a skintight black dress, probably not long enough to pass the dress code but I’m too mesmerized to even care. Her cleavage leaves just enough to the imagination. Her hair is in a high, sleek ponytail, straightened today instead of in its wavy allure. I can think of one way to put that ponytail to good use.

“Everything okay?” I ask, assuming there’s something wrong from the expression on her face.

“I think so.” Her tone is soft and unassured.

“What is it?”

“What happened after I left yesterday?” she asks as she pulls the chair out from the opposite side of me and sits, her dress sliding up her thighs.

I think to answer, but I can’t control my thoughts. The truth is, she’s all I can think about. Which is why I needed space. I originally told her we could only do this one time, but I can't think of a reason why we wouldn’t continue this arrangement. She wants it, and so do I.Bad.

The truth is it scared the hell out of me. I tried to avoid the aftermath, which I’ll admit, was pretty tyrannical of me. It’s what I normally do after sex with other women. Of course, Sterling is not like other women, and I knew that from the beginning. I’ve always been able to move on quickly; not a single woman has ever had this kind of hold on me. I can’t seem to focus on anything but how perfect she is and thoughts of what’s hiding under that dress of hers. Even though she was on full display for me yesterday, every delicious inch of her body spread wide for me, waiting to be taken, it wasn’t enough. I need more of her.

All of her.

In and out of the bedroom.

Instead of answering her question, I share a concern of my own hoping for a change in topic.

“Sterling, that dress is entirely too inappropriate for work.”

She moves uncomfortably in her chair as her cheeks redden.

“I’m sorry, I thought I looked good in it.” She pulls her bottom lip into her teeth and bites gently. She seems more confident today than I’ve seen her.

“Don’t do that,” I counter.

“Do what?” she asks. I can’t tell if she knows what she’s doing or if she’s genuinely clueless.

“You know what,” I challenge, rubbing my bottom lip with my finger. What has gotten into her, into me?

Sterling gets up from her chair and walks toward the door. She leans herself back into the door and crosses her arms behind her while she stares into my eyes.

“You didn't answer my question, Callan.”

“You’re right, I didn’t.”

“Well, why not?”

“I feel like your disregard for our professional dress code needs to be addressed first. It’s a distraction.” I try to remain as lowkey and steady as I can, knowing that everything inside of me is coming to life.

“A distraction to who?”

A few seconds pass, and I still don’t respond.

“What was that you said to me the other night?” she sarcastically ponders. “Oh yeah. Use. Your. Words.” she pronounces each word like a syllable as her lips curl into a flirty smirk.

“Sterling. I need you to head home and change out of that dress immediately. I can practically see your ass.” I’m trying not to lose my cool but she’s making it impossible not to. I can’t tell if she’s pissing me off by defying me or if I’m pissing myself off by denying what I really want.

“You cannot see my ass.” She rolls her eyes.

“I can if you bend over.”

“Well, good thing I’m not bent over then, Mr. David.” The words slide off her tongue nefariously and it’s the way that her top teeth meet her bottom lip as she says the V in my last name that sends me over the edge.

I stand up from my desk abruptly, wasting no time getting to her. She tenses when I reach her, as I place my hands against the door on either side of her head, a position we now know well.
